Thoughts On Vince McMahon documentary?
While I can quibble with a few things on it, overall I think that for someone who wanted the basic story of Vince and the growth of WWE, it gave them that. It didn’t change my opinion of McMahon in the least. I still think of him now exactly as I did before watching it.
Time will tell the answer to this question, but now that we've seen the content of the Mr. McMahon documentary, do you think releasing it a few months before RAW moves to Netflix will help or harm the transition in terms of interest and viewership?
I don’t think it will do either. It won’t harm Raw because Vince is gone from the company. He’s old news and there are new owners. It won’t help because it came out more than three months before the move.
Netflix doesn't release specific numbers related to how successful its programs are. Without the Nielsen rating system as guidance, how will we be able to measure the success and viewership of RAW after it moves to Netflix?
I don’t think we really will be able to do so. It may end that we know by the end of the first five year team as that’s when Netflix will renew for five more years or walk away.
For years there has been talk about Pat Patterson and inappropriate sexual behavior. While his backers blame homophobia as the reason he was targeted, there are wrestlers who have come out and openly said he was a predator. Tony Atlas said it in the Mr. McMahon documentary, Roddy Piper says it here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYQawT9DyKw), and others that weren't yet on the main roster claimed he was sexually inappropriate with them but kept quiet to not lose an opportunity. This doesn't include the scandal with the ring boys that accused him of misconduct. With people actually coming forward and saying things happened, why was this always swept under the rug and Pat always got a pass? Gay or straight, I've seen and heard more than enough that I would've distanced my company from him, like they've done Moolah. What are your thoughts?
Honestly, I don’t have any because I don’t know the facts. Atlas and Piper can say what they want. I can’t prove it, or disprove it. Is it a case of a wrestler not liking Patterson or gay people in general? I don’t know, so I can’t say. I have never seen definitive proof of something that he would have gotten a pass on.
So I was at Grand Slam, the referees in several of the matches botched a 3 count. Once by not actually counting the "3" . Who's shoulders does this fall on? The referees for not counting? The wrestlers for not "kicking out" Or just bad TK booking?
It’s only TK’s fault, from a booking standpoint, if he booked the ref to screw up (and man, that would be dumb). In a case where there isn’t an injury preventing someone from kicking out, I blame the talent first, then the ref second. If I were a ref and a talent didn’t kick out when they were supposed to, they are taking the pin. And, if I were the booker, I would support the ref for doing it.
