CONOR MCGREGOR'S UFC RETURN SET FOR FEBRUARY 2025, THOUGH FIGHT NOT SET IN STONE

By Kendall Jenkins on 2024-11-19 07:19:00

Fans of Irish fighter Conor McGregor, who no doubt are waiting with bated breath for his return to UFC action, may not have that much longer to wait, according to recent reports doing the rounds.

By all accounts, the 36-year-old Irish superstar is set for a February 2025 comeback clash with Dan Hooker in Saudi Arabia. He has not fought since 2021, when he suffered the second of back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier, and various comebacks have been stopped in their tracks since then.

When Conor McGregor does get back into the octagon, you can be sure that there will be a lot of betting action, and fans who like to bet deep into the undercard of big UFC events may be interested in this parlay betting guide, which will help you make the most of your wagering plans.

It had looked as if the Dubliner would fight Michael Chandler, but that was eventually postponed, and that prospective opponent is set to fight Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 in New York.

New Zealander Hooker has spoken about the prospective clash with the legendary UFC star, stating,

“We’re kindred spirits. As you can say, we get along quite well,”

“I think, we are both very similar. There is a lot of similarities there.”

“We just spoke in the ring and just, like, I’m on board, he’s on board. We just need to get the UFC on board and we’ll get this thing across the line.” Hooker added.

The 34-year-old Auckland-born fighter made his MMA debut in March 2009 before making his UFC bow in 2014. He has an overall 24-12 record, having won each of his last three fights, two of which took place in the US before his last victory at UFC 305 against Mateusz Gamrot in Perth, Australia.

There is some talk of a potential delay of the planned fight, with Hooker’s wife set to give birth to their second daughter at around the same time as the as-yet-unscheduled fight,

“I’m good to go in January or March,”

“The missus is due [for a baby in] February, so no can go. I’ve got a little girl on the way.”

“You’d even turn down a big fight with McGregor for [the birth of your child]. You’re not missing that. No panties are coming off in February.” before adding.

“[McGregor’s] busy, he’s got money coming out of his ears – if I had that amount of money in the bank, you wouldn’t see me anywhere near a fistfight.”

On that score, it seems clear that money is not much of a motivation for McGregor at this point, the UFC star has made a fortune from his many ventures over the past decade-plus.

Adding further confusion to any potential return were comments made by UFC supremo Dana White, who said,

"Conor is going to come back late 25 so there is a lot of time for us to work out who is going to fight Conor,"
