BOBO BRAZIL & SAILOR ART THOMAS' PLACE IN WRESTLING HISTORY, WWE NOT AIRING LIVE SHOWS THIS WEEK, NWA POWERRR & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2024-12-28 10:00:00

Why is the NWA Powerrr series on Twitter and not YouTube?

My only guess is that is where Billy Corgan wants the series housed currently.

Does anyone know who owns the old NWA Houston library?  It was getting streamed online under their company before Billy Corgan purchased it and it hasn't been seen since.

I would believe it's under Corgan's ownership, but I can't 100% confirm that.

If WWE pre-tapes the shows this holiday week and pretends they are live as they happen, are they not breaching the trust of their audience?

If the zombies don't really eat people on The Walking Dead, did AMC breach their trust with the audience?  Come on.  Are we really splitting the hair because WWE taped content in advance so their talents and staff could have the same holiday time that we ALL get?  In the words of my beloved Mystery Science Theater 3000, "Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show,I should really just relax..."

I saw Starrcast is coming back.  Are you doing any panels?

I haven't been asked and honestly, it's sort of hard to top what I did a few years back with CM Punk.  So, while I'm always happy for anything that will make wrestling fans happy - and Starrcast always does - I'm not currently involved but certainly would tell fans it's worth attending.

I've always heard the consensus that Ron Simmons was the first Black wrestler to win a world title in wrestling, but I've also heard conflicting narratives that either Bobo Brazil or Art Thomas were the first. Who was the first for real?

On a national level, Ron Simmons.  Brazil and Thomas were each the WWA World Champion but that promotion ran a certain number of cities out of Indianapolis and it wasn't a title that was perceived on the same level as say the NWA/WWF/AWA/WCW titles were later. It was a different time period, but one can certainly argue (and would be right) about the historical importance of Brazil and Thomas.
