Former ECW and ROH veteran HC Loc has launched a GoFundMe Campaign to assist New York-area referee Ryan Rice, who has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and is currently experiencing major financial issues as his health care provider has denied the treatments that would allow Rice to manage the condition.
On the GFM campaign, Loc wrote:
"Ref Ryan needs our help! Over the last several years many of you in and around pro wrestling have had the absolute PLEASURE of meeting and working with Ryan Rice. In many ways Ryan is the best among us. He's one of the very best Referees on the independent wrestling circuit. He has a tremendous mind for the business. Since the moment he first stepped in to a ring to train with me, he's done everything right. He knows how to act, how to work hard and he knows how to treat people. He's a guy EVERYONE wants in the car, in the locker room and , most definitely, in their match. More importantly than any of those things, though, Ref Ryan is the kind of friend everyone should be lucky enough to have. If you need help Ryan will be there. So we need to be there for him!
After 3 bouts of pneumonia, several trips to the ER and, seemingly, always getting sick, he finally has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. The good news is, it's manageable. The bad news is the treatment will involve, among other things, several blood transfusions. The unimaginable, even worse news is, his insurance has denied covering the treatments and it will cost $10,000 a month! To make matters worse, because Ryan can risk getting sick he hasn't been able to work and his wife has had to miss work to care for him. These are the times when people are supposed to take care of each other. Please give all you can!"
