12/23/24 Results from New Japan's Road to Tokyo Dome from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:
Kick off match: Katsuya Murashima vs. Hiromu Takahashi
Hiromu forces Murashima to submit to a Boston Crab.
Tetsuya Naito shows up to try and sneak attack Hiromu. Hiromu avoids Naito’s tornado DDT and hits a dropkick to stun Naito.
Hiromu says Naito looks good after his surgery. Naito had eye surgery following World Tag League. Hiromu says he will crush Naito at Wrestle Kingdom.
1 - Jeff Cobb vs. Hartley Jackson
Cobb pins Jackson after a Tour of the Islands.
2 - Kevin Knight and KUSHIDA vs. Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles
In the middle of the match, War Dogs attack everyone with chairs. The match is declared a no contest.
United Empire comes out. Huge brawl. They take out tables and ladders. Knight is about come off a tall ladder on Conners and Moloney but War Dogs escape.
Fujita makes the suggestion but the Champs should make the call. KUSHIDA and Knight say they will defend the belts in a 4-way Tables Ladders and Chairs match.
3 - Francesco Akira and TJP vs. Drilla Moloney and Clark Conners
No contest.
4 - TAKA Michinoku, DOUKI and Taichi vs. Master Wato, Satoshi Kojima and El Desperado
Desperado pins TAKA after a Pinche Loco
5 - El Phantasmo, Tomoaki Honma, Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi, Ren Narita and EVIL
ELP hits a low blow on Yujiro, hits Sudden Death and Thunderkiss 87 for the pin.
House of Torture beats down the babyfaces. EVIL cuts a handful of Tanahashi’s hair. The Korakuen crowd got really mad at this. EVIL mocked Tanahashi as the crowd boos. EVIL holds Tanahashi’s hair like a trophy as he leaves the ring.
EVIL will have massive heat going into Wrestle Kingdom.
6 - BUSHI, Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji vs. Gedo, SANADA and David Finlay
Finlay hits Overkill on BUSHI and gets the pin.
After the match, Finlay and Gedo destroys Tsuji with Overkill and the shillelagh.
7 - Tomohiro Ishii and Shota Umino vs. Ryohei Oiwa and Zack Sabre Jr.
The commentators Chris Charlton and Jeff Cobb are heavily hyping Umino as a star and Zack Sabre Jr as the top guy in the company.
Good match. All four men beat the crap out of each other. This was a showcase between Oiwa and Umino as the next stars of New Japan. ZSJ were in the supporting role as Oiwa and Umino showed off their fighting spirit.
Umino hits the Death Rider on Oiwa and gets the pin.
Umino thanked Zack for leading New Japan this past year. But he promised to win the IWGP World Championship and he will win at Wrestle Kingdom.
He thanked Korakuen Hall. The crowd pop is not as big as it could be.
