12/26/24 - The Worcester Palladium 

 

 Spotlight match: Julius Draeger & Rain Conway vs Handyman Jake Gray & Eye Black Jack 

A showcase of BIOPro’s finest students opens our show tonight. Draeger has settled into his space as “angry technician”. Rain still needs to figure out who he is but is technically solid. Jake fires up the crowd early but spends a good chunk of the match eating offense from Draeger and Conway. Hot tag to the relatively newer Jack and he cleans house. A huge one armed slam put Raine out for the three. Draeger is of course upset about this and attacks the winners post match. This brings out Brett Mettro, returning out of the blue to cut this off! Draeger eats another slam. Mettro hoists up Conway and puts a cherry on the return with a celebratory F5! Welcome Back!

It feels FULL in here! Paul Crockett and Brother Greatness (for now) are on commentary! Rich Oalladino is our master of ceremonies. We are in the historic Worcester Palladium DOWNSTAIRS. Let’s gooooo! 

   Match 1: Paris Van Dale, Tiara James & Tina San Antonio vs Lauren St James, Davienne & Spike Nishamura 

The grudge match 6-women tag between Paris and her former ring announcer is kicking off our year ending mega-show. Everyone gets some opening salvos but the real question is “Can Lauren St James hang in the ring?”. Paris tags in and we’re about to get our answer…well until Tiara blindsides her and Paris just takes the easy beatdown. The whole team takes turns on her but she slips a tag to a hungry Davienne. Paris eats an electric chair drop for two! Triple stack body attack! Lauren begs for the tag and she spears Paris in half for the win! She can’t believe her ring announcer just pinned her!

 Match 2: Ray Jaz vs Joe Ocasio (7-Minute Ray Jaz All-American Challenge)

Joe Ocasio already has the keys to the Jersey Shore house…but can he officially lay claim to them? For the first couple of minutes, Joe just unloads on Jaz. Ray with an eye rake, typical Jaz. He starts to display his technical acumen on Joe, even dedicating a German suplex to yours truly (in his defense, I WAS shouting f*** you in his face repeatedly). Joe staying in it and reverses Jaz’s ground game to a triangle choke at the five minute mark. Jaz with the power out and slams Ocasio to the buckles. Ocasio tosses Jaz into the corner with a minute to go! Joe firing up! Running headbutt! Ray pushes Joe into the ref, rakss the eyes again and gets the three on a backslide. Textbook Raymond here and he did it with 7 seconds to spare. Ocasio still looked like a beast here.

Match 3: Shot Through the Heart (Love Doug & TJ Crawford w/ Brick City) vs Pedro Dones & Bobby Orlando (w/ Bobby Jr) 

It’s fun to watch Bobby Orlando force Doug through some of his old babyface antics (and see Cupid react poorly). Dones then spends a good chunk of time being a crash test dummy for Big Business’ latest project. Mom back in and it’s Bobby slams for all these bad boys. Bobby bomb on Doug for two! TJ stops sick trick time! Pedro in and hits a big Samoan drop on TJ. Bobby shoves TJ out of the ring and rolls up Doug for the win! TJ IS MAD AT DOUG! Big Business is showing cracks?

Match 4: Bryce Donovan (w/ Mark Sterling) vs Dezmond Cole

Cole was announced as being accompanied by Jermaine Marbury but he’s not here? Did Bryce get him back stage again? Bryce is looking very confident…and that lets Boofa just start running him over from the bell. Sterling serves as a distraction almost immediately and Bryce clubs him from behind. Sterling is absolutely a factor, cutting off every attempt by Cole to come back. Bryce is being a great big man tonight, just catching Cole and tossing him at will. He chokes Cole with wrist tape and Sterling immediately chokes him on the rope. This is a master class in dirty tactics. Ref Bill has finally had enough of this and yells at both of them! Cole going for the knees! He’s chopping this big tree…and finally slams him to the mat! Bryce looks up in disbelief as Cole comes flying through. Kick out at two! Bryce tries a chokeslam off the top…Boofa with the slip trap superkick and German off the top for a VERY close two! Sterling is a mess as Bryce is clearly in trouble here! Bryce catches him in a slingshot…Cole eyes goes wide as Bryce hits a monster chokeslam for two! Sterling with a right hand and Cole turns into a ripcord black hole slam! He kicks out again! Sterling tries to hand Bryce a weapon…Ref Bill catches it and tosses Sterling out! Wait…I think Bryce does have something in his hand??? Jermaine Marbury and Benny the Basketball come out to make sure Sterling goes away…Bryce heads out to intercept and Cole hits a dive! Ref Bill is too distracted trying to get control of this…he misses the blatant low kick from Bryce and a Damocles ends the match for the Big Boofa. Nooooo! Bryce unloads a chokeslam on Jermaine Marbury. Bobby Orlando’s music hits! He comes out to look his old shook crew partner in the face….they appear to have a full conversation without words..and Bryce takes Sterling and leaves the ring. Cole and Marbury are safe for now. Crazy match. 

 Match 5: Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)(c) vs Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King) (for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships) 

These two teams have such incredible chemistry with each other. I’m not sure what numbered round we’re on but this goes 100mph right out of the gate. I’m not gonna even try to recap the bulk of this. I’m enjoying it too much. Swipe Right are just such utter scumbags and easily hateable. It’s easy to see why WWE ID’d them as a team. Dustin and Kylon continue to show why they were IWTV champs for so long. Dustin ends up isolated and taking a lot of abuse. Kylon with hot tag, double northern lights but only gets the two! Kylon getting eaten by the numbers game. Huge slingshot spear from Baylor and a dropkick spinebuster almost ends it for King. Dustin in there and the Powerplex could signal a transfer of power….Ricky makes the save! We hit the 15 minute mark! Huge flurry of moves! Everyone is down! Kylon and Ricky back to their feet first and brawling! It’s a madhouse! Double body attack in the corner! Powerplex to Baylor? Rocky cuts it off! Dustin caught with a scaffold Spike ddt and a Super Swipe ends the night for MG. Swipe Right continues to dominate. MONSTER of a match here. 

 Match 6: Gabby Forza (W/ Bulk Bronson) vs Allie Katch

The stipulations for this are wild. If Gabby wins…she gets her rose gold gnome back. But if Allie wins? Gabby has to delete her social media,l and she is never allowed to tag with or even BE at a show with her husband Bulk Bronson). Gabby doesn’t even wait for this..she attacks Gabby on the stage! Bulk misses this entirely. Gabby almost ends this immediately with a piledriver but Gabby powers free! Bronson looking very worried as Allie gets to ramming Gabby post to post. Hip attack to the corner! Cannonball! Kick out! Allie catches Bulk worried at ringside and is reveling in making him WATCH his wife get slowly choked out. Gabby starts to rally but Allie heads under the ring. She’s got the golden gnome…Ref Gina gets distracted trying to fix the apron and Katch blasts Forza with the gnome. Hip attack on the apron. Elbow drop to the back for two! She tries a superplex but Bronson rallies Gabby into a powerslam off the top!!!! Allie rams Gabby right into ref Gina. VERY blatant. Allie sets up Gabby for a piledriver into the gnome! Gabby fights free, she makes like she might hit Allie with the gnome…but she tosses it to ref Gina and BLASTS Allie with a Fire Thunder Driver for the win! Really good pop for the finish. 

 TIME FOR INTERMISSION...but first:

Beyond head honcho DC is out here. It’s time for some ANNOUNCEMENTS. We set an attendance record! 527! They also announced this week that BioPro is moving to a new location (away from the White Eagle, due to impending renovations). That suggests something else might be moving too, eh? We have a future to think about if they plan to be around every Thursday forever. But on 1/23/25, Wrestling Open does its last show at The White Eagle. What’s after? 1/30/25…We're not leaving Worcester! Hell, we're not even leaving Kelly Square! Wrestling Open debuts at Electric Haze, the original stomping ground of Uncharted Territory! I am VERY curious how that is going to playout, since Beyond originally moved Uncharted to the White Eagle to accommodate larger crowds. As a temporary stop, I can see this working (especially during the colder months coming) but definitely curious what the long-term plan is going to be here.

Match 7: The Church of Greatness (Sammy Diaz, Lucas Chase, Tyree Taylor & Ichiban w/ Brother Greatness) vs The Stetson Ranch (Steven Stetson, Danny Miles, Hammer Tunis & ???) (STEEL CAGE WARFARE)

It’s 4 on 4, War Games style. The match ends when all teams are in and someone surrenders. More important…who in the hell is the 4th man for the ranch? Classic wrestling suggests some options but I’m hoping the church is solid at this point.  But for a moment…let’s just have an aside. Who would have thought 3 years ago that Brother Greatness would be leading a huge face stable at Open. The church loses the coin toss. Of course. Danny Miles is kicking this off for the Ranch. From the church? Ichiban!  Ring the bell! 

F*** the ranch! Ichiban pummels Miles early. Miles pops up Ichi into the cage and he flies down with a crossbody! Miles eating steel for dinner tonight! Ichi with dozens of one punches! Danny is trying to escape the cage? That doesn’t work! 

Hammer Tunis is in next and he blasts Ichiban with a belt. As is customary, it’s now time for the heels to team up on the lone babyface. Ichiban run into the cage repeatedly as we count down again.

Sammy Diaz in next! Moonsault double ddt to the ranch hands! Sammy got that belt and whips up Danny and Hammer. Ichiban joins the fray and backdrop splashes into Hammer! 

Steven Stetson is in next. The ranch takes control of the situation. Huge big boot to Ichiban. Sammy lawn darted into the steel. The ranch looks happy some spell for them. They hate it.

Tyree Taylor enters the match…whisper in the wind to the whole ranch! Omg!!! Stetson is fighting back. The time is here for the fourth ranch member…no one comes out. Lucas Chase runs to the back to find them. IN the meantime, Danny Miles grabs a huge chain and locks the door. They WANT this slot be three on three? 

Lucas Chase’s time is now. But he’s locked out? The chain lets go??? Lucas is in and clobbers Sammy Diaz! Oh no! Lucas Chase is the fourth ranch member?!? Where is Brother Greatness?!? He’s on commentary and runs down to the ring! Brother Greatness scales the cage and cross bodies the entire ranch!

BG stands toe to toe with Chase and tries to talk him off this path. Chase with a Samoan drop. He grabs some brass knuckles. Tyree Taylor trying to battle back but he gets clubs with the knucks. Now Chase has a hammer. He wraps the hammer around BG’s neck and the ranch forces Sammy to watch him get strangled…Sammy surrenders. The Ranch prevails in a horrible double cross. The church didn’t deserve this. F*** the ranch. This match was wild. Lived up to the hype and build, for sure. 

Main Event: Big Bacon Brad Hollister(c) vs Fancy Ryan Clancy (steel cage match for the wrestling open championship) 

The champ has nowhere to run. The steel cage SHOULD prevent shenanigans from the rest of Big Business. Clancy is out to a Very Smooth version of his normal theme. Brad storms right out and almost starts the fight before introductions. Brad is all aggression. We lock the cage and ring the bell! Clancy and Brad go right for it. Clancy almost gets the pin immediately. Bacon with a high angle and high velocity German. Yiiikes! One thing to mention, Clancy has his elbow wrapped up and Brad is clearing trying to target it. Clancy with a great popup flapjack! He goes for the money flip but Brad spine busters him into the side of the cage. The champ is starting to enjoy himself as he drags Clancy around the cage for more pain. Clancy with a slick reverse an monkey flip. Brad just headbutts him on the follow up. Brad hits a dropkick but it’s not fancy enough to KO anyone so Ryan kicks out. Dusty punches from Clancy! Brad just lawn darts him into the steel again. Clancy is busted wide open! Brad raking him across the cage. Clancy blocks the tornado jackhammer! He faceplants Bacon! Clancy fires up and Brad is looking in trouble…and then he wraps up a rear naked choke! Clancy almost goes out but fights back to his feet. Brad rammed to the cage and he’s opening up! Hard slap from Clancy! Cross body! Bacon goes for several rides but Clancy can’t secure the three. Clancy cartwheels free of Brad but gets popped up into a powerbomb for two. Enziguri from Fancy! Bacon is staggered! He goes for the KO dropkick! Bacon avoids it and hits a muscle buster for two!!! Bacon wants that jackhammer? Clancy turns it to a single leg crab!  Bacon flips and kicks free! He comes running but finds himself flipped right into the crab again! Brad gouges the eyes to free himself. He drags Clancy to the top….he wants a big finish to this war. They balance out to the middle of the top rope…Clancy rams Bacon into the cage and Side Russians him off the top! They’re both down as Brick City runs to ringside to try and help their captain. Bobby Orlando and Pedro Dones run out to stop them! The two teams brawls at ringside while Brad and Ryan are just a mess in the ring. It looks like a table gets set up. Unsure who just went through it but Love Doug is out here with a chair. Ref Bill is holding the cage door closed as Doug tries to scale the cage. Clancy sends him flying off the top! He finishes the spot with a fancy splash on Brad. THE NARROWEST OF TWO COUNTS!!! TJ Crawford bullies his way into the cage and wipes out ref bill! He swings a chair but Clancy ducks! Brad with the low blow! TJ with another. Brad hits the tornado jackhammer! Clancy kicks out and Big Business can’t believe it!!! Brad setups another chair shot….Clancy starts handing out d*** kicks! Dusty elbows! TJ thrown into the cage wall!! Brad grabs the chair but Clancy is a step ahead, hard shot across Bacon’s back. TJ gets sabu’d! Clancy hits a running knee! Another side Russian! The KO dropkick connects and Fancy Ryan Clancy lays back onto Brad for the three count! We have a new Wrestling Open Champ as the crowd sings for him! 2025 will be the fanciest year! The ring fills with Open’s babyfaces as they congratulate the new champ! Great match. They went damn near a half hour and the crowd was fire for this all the way through. They wanted this and Clancy delivered.
 

Hell of a night. I know Beyond refers to the monthly weekend shows as the “super shows”….so if this just obliterated most of those in terms of crowd, build and energy…what do you call this? The Wrestling Open MEGAshow? A SIGMAshow? Or just Every Thursday Forever? I don’t know but something tonight felt f***ing RIGHT, EARNED and DESERVED. See you next Thursday. Well, Tuesday I guess. Heavy Lies the Crown. :)
