Do you think WWE had any idea that Hulk Hogan would get the reception that he got at Raw on Netflix?
No, I don’t think that they did. If they had I doubt they would have sent him out there. That was the only real down point of the show.
WWE is doing The Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. Thoughts?
I am not surprised in the least. This is a company that wants to generate as much revenue as possible and the Saudis are willing to pay top dollar. I don’t expect TKO to be altruistic.
Has there ever been a greater disparity between a man and his wrestling persona in the history of the wrestling business than Terry Bollea and Hulk Hogan? As a wrestling fan going back 45 years, it's hard for me to believe they are one and the same person!
I guess it depends on how you look at it. Vince McMahon’s version of Hogan is nothing like the Hogan that got caught on tape spewing racial slurs or turned on his fellow wrestlers by snitching to the boss when talk of a union was going on. nWo Hogan? Well, that’s probably close to the real Hogan.
I was wondering your thoughts on why exactly Hulk Hogan got booed so badly on Raw? I know it can be a variety of reasons. The video tape and racial slurs. His lying or exaggerating stories. Maybe his more recent political affiliations. I am leaning towards the political end since it was in LA and that is a mostly Democratic city. Also where do you go with him from here since they just signed a deal with him. My initial thought was to do something heel with him but then I thought, maybe you bring him out in a more Republican area and test that water. If he gets cheered, could they go down the Bret Hart route where he is a face in certain places and then a heel in others depending on how the people react to him? Curious to see what you thought.
I think the main reason he was booed was due to him spewing racist remarks and then not only not atoning for them but actually trying to justify his use of the N word, which is abhorrent. Keep in mind, Undertaker is a right winger who openly endorsed Donald Trump. He got a great reception from the same crowd. It could also be that with Jesse Ventura’s return, people only recently found out that Hogan went to Vince McMahon and snitched that some wrestlers were trying to unionize. I loathe him as much for that as I do his racial comments.
Any word on where Raw/Smackdown/HoF are going to be held Wm41 weekend? I'm leaning towards/hoping it's The Sphere. I think the presentation there would be off the charts.
I have not heard yet but I agree with you, The Sphere is an awesome building and I would love to see them run it. If not, I expect they will run The T-Mobile Arena, which is also a great venue and home of my beloved Vegas Golden Knights.
