A new book on the legendary Curtis Iaukea was released last month.
As The Sun Rises Over Diamond Head: The Life and Family of Curtis "Da Bull" Iaukea by his wife Liane Patricia Carmen Iaukea was independently published by the Iaukea family.
Promotional material for the book notes:
"Liane P.C. Iaukea shares the story and photos of her husband, Curtis "Da Bull" Iaukea, with reminisces of their life together. Also known as King Curtis, Iaukea was a professional wrestler whose career and presence spanned decades, time zones, international and local communities, and world events. His life was representative of a time in Hawaiʻi and abroad when the grit, determination, and celebrity of professional athletes and entertainers were gaining fandom and notoriety, not just in their own communities but around the globe. Coming from Hawaiʻi, he rose to wrestling stardom rapidly and was able to capture audiences with his theatrics and larger-than-life personality. Liane Iaukea shares their adventures from her perspective, and opens up the family's photos albums with pictures from Curtis's wrestling career, to his life with his family on their farm in Maui."
King Curtis Iaukea passed away in 2010 away at the age of 73. During his long career, Iaukea worked for a number of different territories, including the WWWF, Australia, the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, San Francisco, All Star Pro Wrestling in Britain and Championship Wrestling from Florida. A tall, girthy man with a loud bellowing voice, he made a tremendous heel and held titles in just about every promotion he worked for, including for IWA World titles in Australia, the WWWF Tag Team belts with Baron Mikel Scicluna, the Florida Heavyweight championship and more. Iaukea also appeared in a Three Stooges film as a villain, pre-dating just about every wrestler who ever made a crossover to film by years. Iaukea's final appearances on a national basis were as Kamala's original WWF manager "The Wizard" before slowly being phased out in favor of Mr. Fuji. He later made appearances in WCW vignettes for the Dungeon of Doom group that feuded with Hulk Hogan in the mid-1990s.
