WWE calls you and wants you to pick two people to put in the WWE Hall of Fame. Who are they?
Kamala and Ivan Koloff.
I was reading up on some old crazy stories. Is it true Road Warrior Animal once had tour Japan for free to make up for Great Muta getting ripped off on an indy booking?
Yes, there was a stadium show held in Atlantic City and the promoter bounced a bunch of paydays on talent. One of them was Great Muta and another talent, who had come in from Japan for the show. I believe Muta was overseeing All Japan at the time and to make things right, Animal went and did a tour without being compensated as an apology. Those are the broad strokes of the story but it did indeed happen.
When Bob Ryder passed, 1Wrestling went with it. Did you guys ever try to acquire the site or its archives.
We inquired, because Dave Scherer knew it was important to me personally to try and bring the content, especially the old audios, under our umbrella, but this was well before Bob passed. Unfortunately, during a server move, they lost every bit of their data - the audios, the articles, interviews, you name it. So, there was nothing to acquire except the website domain and after so many years of being here, it was the content I personally wanted to have not the brand name, but apparently that content is long gone, unless someone out there has the audios or someone out there secretly has 1Wrestling's old files. If you do, email me!
After you left 1Wrestling, was it ever weird to see Ryder at TNA shows or Joey Styles at indy shows?
No, it was not. There was certainly some unhappiness on his part, but it was always professional and friendly when I saw Bob at TNA until his health prevented him from being there. Then, it was more phone conversations from time to time, but no, never weird. Dave made the decision to leave and when he told me, I told him I was going with him. We never even talked money. I was just going. Bob and Joey Styles knew where my personal loyalty stood. I love Joey to death personally and always will. He and I have never ever had a cross word and I doubt we ever would.
When John Cena retires, do you see him doing special referee gigs, enforcing matches, etc.? Do you think he's ACTUALLY going to retire?
I think that as long as John can contribute to the company in some way and it doesn't interfere with his Hollywood world, he'd be happy to make cameos and drop a five knuckle shuffle from time to time. As far as retiring from the ring, yes, I truly believe he's going to call it a day and be done with wrestling. If anyone deserves that, it's the guy who carried the company on his shoulders and kept it going for the current regime and roster to hit the ground running. Cena is a bonafide legend and deserves every accolade he gets.
With all the women in WWE now, why hasn't there been a Total Divas relaunch? Could you see them doing it with Nattie, Naomi, Nikki and maybe bringing back Eva, Lana, etc.
If someone wants to pay WWE to produce it, I am sure the company would be open to it and I am sure some of the former talents would love to sign new contracts to do it again. Jersey Shore reunited, right? Why not Total Divas, especially when the show did so much to bring female fans into the fold?
I don't read your Q&A column to read off-topic questions. Can you stick to wrestling?
I'm sorry, but this would be off-topic.
