Variety picked up comments that Dave Bautista made during a ComicBook.com interview about working again as an actor in the comic book film realm.
Bautista noted that while he's closed to playing Drax the Destroyer again for Masix rvel Studios (with the exception of doing it for Director James Gunn, which is impossible as Gunn is now running DC Studios), he has sent word to Gunn and The Russo Brothers (the directors of the most successful Marvel films, who are returning to do two new upcoming films, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars) that he is open to playing another character if things worked out.
“But I do wanna be in that world,” Bautista said. “I’m a fan of that world. I’m a fan of comic books and that whole universe. Marvel, DC, I just wanna be in it. I made that known to James, I made that known to the Russo Brothers. Personally, I talked to them, all of them, and told them, ‘Don’t count me out. If there’s a character that I’d be right for and that you want me for, man, I’d be totally open-minded to it.’ It’s just the Drax character ran its course.”
Bautista played Drax across six Marvel films as well as additional material for Disney+.
