After Raw's debut on Netflix, there are two big things I have to ask. First, did I seriously hear Michael Cole say that Roman Reigns successfully defended his title an amazing 30 times? "Amazing?" Seriously? 30 times over 3 ½ years is supposed to be amazing.....even if most of them had interference from The Bloodline.....even if some them weren't even against real contenders (Matt Riddle, Logan Paul).........Gee, I guess other long-term champs like Bruno, Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, John Cena, and CM Punk have nothing on him. Only the "Great Roman Reigns" could actually have 30 successful title defenses in 3 ½ years. But seriously, wouldn't they be better to keep hush on the actual number of times he defended the belt if they really want fans to believe in their minds that Roman's title run was so spectacular?
It all depends on your perspective. Clearly, you took issue with what Cole said. It didn't even resonate with me. I look at it as I am watching a TV show, not an actual sport. The announcers are part of the story being told. I never even thought, “Wow, the Title was defended a lot more in the past!” I got used to the less frequent defenses when Brock Lesnar was the champ.
Secondly, am I to assume that the planned title match between Cody Rhodes and The Rock is off? The Rock said on the night after WM 40 that when he got back, he would be coming for Cody and his title. I also remember him coming out at the end of one of the PLEs (I think in October) and made that 3-count gesture while looking at Cody, seemingly reminding him that he pinned him on night 1 of WM 40, and that he's still planning to come for him and the title. But then he shows on the Raw Netflix debut, and suddenly he's all "good guy" again. He even placed that special necklace around Roman's neck after his match, when I kept thinking that he was going to help Solo win. It's hard to see Cody and The Rock facing off now.
Unless Rock is the last guy in The Elimination Chamber, it sure looks that way. He had already made his presence felt by this time last year, which makes me think he won't be in the Title picture this year. I thought it was odd that Rock was nice to Cody on the Raw debut. Now it makes more sense if they aren’t going to follow up on the angle from before.
Whose idea was it to make a movie about Mildred Burke?
The producer of the film and its backers!
And you're telling me that the same Mae Young that the Dudleys dropped often was a first-generation women's wrestler? I knew she was a tough old lady, but damn, she was bad ass.
She was 100 percent bad ass, no doubt about it.
I just read your answer about JR'S comments on Penta's debut. But I'm wondering, could it be more along the lines of what Mark Henry alluded to when he said he could "finally speak his mind"? That JR's comments are just his way to downplay Penta to appease TK?
Could that be what JR did? Sure it could. It’s no secret that Tony Khan prefers praise and defense to legitimate criticism. Can I state it as face? Nope.
