TONY KHAN AEW REVOLUTION PPV MEDIA CALL HIGHLIGHTS

By Mike Johnson on 2025-03-07 09:44:00

AEW President Tony Khan held a media call yesterday to promote Sunday's Revolution PPV.

Highlights from the call:

Khan praised Adam Copeland for his presence in the AEW locker room.

Khan reiterated AEW’s achievement of setting the record for the most sold tickets at a wrestling show at the first All In: London event at Wembley Stadium.  Addressing discourse around the attendance figures, he stood firm on AEW’s accomplishment.

Khan praises AEW’s television presence in the UK, citing that their programming on ITV has seen Dynamite and Collision experience a 50% increase in viewership year-over-year

Discussing AEW’s partnerships, Khan emphasized that the new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has provided additional motivation to continue delivering high-quality content.

AEW PPV events are still slated to be available on the service once WBD finalizes live streaming technology.  The Prime Video deal has no bearing on that.

When asked about a possible expansion of AEW’s relationship with Amazon/Prime Video, Khan stated he wasn't sure.

When asked about the possibility of a women’s match headlining a PPV in 2025, Khan stated it remained a possibility.

When asked about no Face of the Revolution ladder match this year, Khan attributed it to making sure the right talents are in the right situations at the right time. He praised the current TNT title picture scene.

On recent talent releases, Khan acknowledged a shift in his philosophy on handling talent releases. He stated that decisions are now made on a case-by-case basis.  The recent releases were "the right thing to do."

On creative, Khan stated he has personally overseen much of the creative decisions in recent months.  He says he seems discourse out there from people who aren't actually watching the product but believes those who are, are happy with the current direction.

On rumors the company has no production meetings, Khan stated he meets with various AEW departments across the course of event days, including coaches, commentators, and producers.

On ROH, Khan said there have been TV discussions but did not indicate there was anything on the horizon about to be announced.
