1 - TAKA Michinoku and Yuya Uemura vs. Chase Owens and SANADA
Owens was still selling his sore arm from his match against Ryohei Oiwa last night.
Owens pins TAKA after a C-Trigger.
2 - Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa and Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Jakob Austin Young, Jeff Cobb and TJP
Oiwa pins Young after hitting The Grip.
3 - Gedo, David Finlay and Gabe Kidd vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Yujiro Takahashi and Ren Narita
Wild brawl to start the match.
Finlay hits Overkill on Kanemaru and gets the pin.
Nothing is solved here between House of Torture and War Dogs. Finlay vs. EVIL in Round 2 looks to be a good fight with lots of shenanigans.
4 - BUSHI, Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji vs. Dick Togo, SHO and EVIL
House of Torture pulls out all their tricks. SHO hits BUSHI with his wrench. EVIL applies the Darkness Scorpion on BUSHI and he taps out.
After the match, Finlay, Gedo and Kidd come to the ring for a fight. House of Torture escapes the ring.
New Japan Cup 2025 - Round 1
5 - Boltin Oleg vs. Bad Luck Fale
Fale beat down Oleg on the ring floor. Oleg fights back. Oleg has difficulty getting off his feet. Oleg finally slams Fale. Oleg goes for the gutwrench but he could not get it. Fale goes for a Hand Grenade but Oleg blocks it. Oleg picks up Fale and hits a huge Kamikaze.
Oleg pins Fale.
Boltin Oleg advances into Round 2 of the tournament and will face Shingo Takagi.
6 - El Phantasmo vs. Great O-Khan
Solid match. They kept the match on the mat. ELP was selling his right shoulder after O-Khan hit his Mongolian chops. O-Khan avoids an ELP moonsault to the floor. O-Khan hits a Tenzan Tombstone Driver on the floor. ELP is almost counted out. O-Khan goes for the Eliminator but ELP escapes. They exchange reversals. They trade strikes. ELP avoids the Eliminator again and hits Sudden Death. Two count. O-Khan hits a Flatliner and finally an Eliminator.
O-Khan pins ELP.
O-Khan will move on to Round 2 to face Shota Umino.
7 - Tomohiro Ishii vs. Drilla Moloney
Good match. Very stiff strong style match. Moloney rocked Ishii with a piledriver and a Gore. Two count. Moloney goes for the Drilla Killa but Ishii escapes and plants him with a German suplex. Ishii hits a lariat and a sliding lariat. Two count. Ishii avoids a Drilla Killa and hits a sliding headbutt. Ishii with another lariat. Two count. Moloney with a brainbuster. Ishii with a Gore. They trade shots. Moloney hits a Drilla Killa.
Moloney pins Ishii.
Drilla Moloney moves into Round 2 to face TJP.
8 - Tetsuya Naito vs. Callum Newman
Newman tried a speed attack on Naito until Newman hurt his knee. Naito targeted the knee and applied leg submissions. Naito hit an Esperanza. Newman went for a cradle suplex but Naito reversed it into a Destino. Two count. Newman avoided another Destino but Naito hit a Spinebuster. They traded reversals until Naito went for a Destino but rolled it into a cradle.
Naito pins Newman.
Tetsuya Naito moves to Round 2 to face Jeff Cobb.
9 - Special Tag Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hirooki Goto vs. Satoshi Kojima and Yuji Nagata
Goto hits GTR on Kojima and gets the pin.
Goto and Nagata will face off for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on March 15.
This was Tanahashi’s last match in this venue.
Goto and Tanahashi thanks the fans to close the show.
