A banner celebrating a number of Tri-State Wrestling Alliance originals will be officially raised in the 2300 Arena on 5/3 as part of the TWA One and Done event in Philadelphia.
The Arena agreed to raise the banner after 1,000 people signed a petition online, requesting the honor. In a bit of pro wrestling magic, ECW founder Tod Gordon was the final signature.
The banner will honor:
*Johnny Hotbody
*Tony “The Hitman” Stetson
*Larry Winters
*“Mad Dog” D.C. Drake
*Joel Goodhart.
The petition noted, "These men truly set the tone and turned the Philly wrestling fanbase into what became known as hardcore fans or smart marks. They changed the business in Philadelphia with their violent style of wrestling that at most times did not stay contained to the squared circle but anywhere in the building and sometimes the parking lots. They were ahead of their time, because after TWA went out of business, and few years later ECW had taken over from the ashes of what the TWA started and these 5 men including Joel Goodhart and now had an Extreme style in almost every match!! We saw a new arena that became legendary around the world, and to this day 30 years later still holds many wrestling shows and shows honor and respect to many of the legends who graced those walls."
The TWA event will open with a convention from 12-3 PM followed by a live event that evening featuring the talent on the show as well as Ric Flair, Sabu, Tony Atlas, Manny Fernandez, Barbara Goodish and many more.
The live event will feature:
*TWA Heavyweight Championship South Philly Street Fight: Breaker Morant vs. Chris Wylde in Morant's final bout.
*TWA Alumni Lumberjack Match: Tony Stetson vs. Michael Tartaglia in Stetson's final bout.
*Memphis Mafia: Doug Gilbert & Tommy Rich vs. Team Extreme: Shane Douglas & a Mystery Partner
*Belle 2 Bell Ladies Match: The Notorious Mimi vs. Gabby Ortiz with Guest Referee WWE Hall of Famer – Madusa “Alundra Blaze” Miceli
*Tessa Blanchard vs. Samantha Starr with Heidi Lee Morgan as the Guest Referee.
*Super Crazy vs. Hanibal.
*Darius Carter vs. Clutch Rockwell vs. Jay D. Licious.
*The Rock N' Roll Express & Kerry Morton vs. The Backseat Boyz & Johnny Kashmere.
