Spotlight Match: Hammer Tunis vs “The Upgrade” Jay Tunis
BIOPro student Jay Tunis is making his debut against…HIS BROTHER?!? Worcester may not know Jay but they haaaaate his brother. Hammer tries to big man his brother early but Jay gets the head and won’t let go. Hammer has some slick tricks to show his sibling though as he takes control of the beatdown. Jay still has more to give and rallies to a skull crushing finale for a very close fall. Tunis catches his brother with a reverse ddt for the win and shows his little brother that he still has a lot to learn. Good contest.
Match 1: RJ Rude (w/ Nick Robles) vs Ichiban
After many months, Robles is still auditioning for a spot in the Residency. At least he plays the cowbell better with every passing week. Rude comes out hot, looking to cash in on the Max Caster 50k contract that Ichiban has on his head. Unfortunately for him, Robles is a far less effective cornerman than Rex Lawless is. But Rude can’t keep his eye on the prize. He has to get the mic and taunt Ichiban and sing to Max Caster (at home?) while he does so. Ichiban tries to snatch the win via rollup but Rude feigns injury in the corner. Robles finally shows his worth and blasts Ichiban with the cowbell. Rude with an Unprettier gets the three!!!
Rude knows he has to do more than just win. RJ and Nick stomp him out. He goes to take Ichiban’s mask….Miracle Generation runs out to make the save! Dustin lets everyone know that the Miracle Ones are back and they have Ichiban’s back…so the Residency better find Rex and they can fight in a 6-man next week. Boy do I WANT to trust the friendship here but this is wrestling dammit and…I have concerns.
Match 2: Ricky Smokes vs Tyler Shoop
Ricky wants respect and he ain’t getting it from Worcester. He also isn’t getting it from Shoop, who just fires up every time Ricky yells Swipe Right at him. Smokes takes over and just strays preening at the ladies while he delivers his beatdown. Crowd fires Shoop back up and he lands some good throws. He even dropkicks Smokes off the top rope to the floor! He throws Smokes back in but Ricky dodges a splash and cracks Shoop with a double knee for the win. Good debut showing for Shoop but Smokes is on another level.
Match 3: Lucas Chase (w/ Hammer Tunis) vs Sammy Diaz
Sammy and Lucas have a hate on for each other and this starts on floor, with Hammer eating the post as the brawl kicks off. Sammy has this in the bag almost immediately but Hammer recovers enough to cause a distraction, eat a boot, and that gives Chase the space he needs. Hammer crawling to the back as the match proper is under way, a very hard-hitting contest between the former Prodigal Sons. Lucas almost getting himself DQ’d for failing to follow ref Bill’s instructions. But this is the direction the match starts going, Lucas showing off just how much more powerful he is than Diaz. Sammy starts being able to reverse things, hits a huge dive to the floor. He heads to the top for the kill shot but Hammer runs back down and shoved him off the top. Chase with a discus clothesline for the win! Hammer wants a piece of Sammy too and Lucas lets him get some shots in. Good match that almost let us forget that Chase is in the f***ing ranch. Thanks for that, Hammer.
Match 4: LJ Cleary vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball)
Cleary joins us from Ireland. He’s living his beautiful life. And he HATES basketball. Ah good, we know to hate him. Cleary with the ol’ head pat of disrespect. Marbury reverses and turns that s*** right back on him. Cleary gives up height but he’s staying ON his opponent with kicks and stomps. Some very stiff strikes from this kid. Marbury finally with the juke and Kobe…and catches LJ with a top rope crossbody for the win. Another good debut!
Match 5: Bryce Donovan vs Brando Lee
Bryce clearly has a Brando Lee problem, even since he failed to put the newcomer away in five minutes. And Lee comes right off the top with a crossbody body to start this and keep Bryce on his toes. The strategy is working to a point, Lee is countering a lot of Donovan’s offense but ends up eating huge shots eventually. The tide starts swinging in Bryce’s direction, as more and more gets through and Lee almost passes out to a cobra clutch. Lee starts to wake up, he hits a DVD and VSK IS OUT HERE TO BEAT UP BRANDO LEE?!? Bryce is DQ’d but he takes a perch on the top buckle to watch VSK continue this pummeling. VSK zip ties Lee’s hand behind his back. He keeps beating Lee until people run from the locker room to break this up. This segment would have benefitted with a re-intro to VSK for the live crowd. It seemed like some fans thought it was Smart Mark with a dye job?
Match 6: Brad Baylor (w/ Ricky Smokes) vs Aaron Rourke (WWEID Official Match)
Rourke has a LOT of problems with Swipe Right these days. Apparently I also have problems with them since Baylor and Ricky talked smack at me on the way out. Wonderful. Aaron starting hot early but Brad rams him face first into a buckle, to the delight of Smokes. Really good back and forth contest here, Rourke having to dig deep to ensure and comeback. Brad really wanting to let this one go but Rourke with a sunset flip rollup and locks the legs for the three! Swipe right doesn’t let this stand as Ricky hits the ring and it’s a two on one against Evil Gay. Big super swipe! I think they ran out of babyface people to make saves? No! Fancy Ryan Clancy slides in with the Wrestling Open Championship to drive them off! He was upstairs on commentary!
Main Event: Big Bacon Brad Hollister & Love Doug vs Gal & Nick Batee
So THIS portion of Big Business we’re cheering now and this is weird too. Open has been flipped this script a lot lately and I feel like I’m in bizarro world more than usual. But tonight, the former terror of the White Eagle, former Wrestling Open champion, Big Bacon Brad Hollister is making his return to the Wrestling Open ring! The crowd is HERE to cheer for Big Business finally. I’m not cheering and Brad notices. I say I’m just not sure/ready yet. Doug trying to prove that love is stronger than Gal’s gym buddy. Batee’s over the top mannerisms work well as he can’t out muscle Cupid Douglas. Bacon with the big tag and he calls his shot for Gal. Bacon pummels WWEID’s action figure mercilessly. Bacon using Doug as a weapon into the prom pose. Gal and Batee finally take control on Doug. They opt to do pushups on him than try for the pin. Bacon reaching for the tag, Doug finally makes space and gets there! Brad just running over them both as the crowd chants “Bacon!”. Near fall off a Bacon bomb! Batee with the blindside and Bollister gets swarmed. Gymrats trying to end this. Doug tags in to save Bacon. Brad’s crawling at ringside while Doug takes another beating. Bacon slides in to protect him, he hands him the flower petals! Gal and Batee get flowered! Batee eats a Business is Booming for the win as the Big Business duo stand tall!
Bacon on the mic, letting this soak in. Bacon says he wanted to surprise Doug. He feels it’s weird to not have a Championship belt on his shoulder. Fancy beat him fair and square…but Fancy is booked up for the title picture. But next week in Worcester? Doug and Brad are getting a shot against Swioe Right for the Wrestling Open tag titles and hope to bring some gold back to Big Business!
