Wrestling REVOLVER was back live on TrillerTV, broadcasting from one of their main hubs, the Horizon Events Center in Clive, Iowa for their "Goated" event. This show featured 3 title matches and 2 grudges on a very attractive card.
Bork Torkelson and Veda Scott on commentary. One of their better and more restrained performances for most of the show. They held off the profanity and screaming until later in the show. That's improvement.
TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella made his REVOLVER debut and was the guest General Manager for the night. Crowd loved seeing him and he seemed to be having a good time.
Crash Jaxon defeated his old roommate, Trey Miguel of the Rascalz, successfully defending his Remix title. The Remix champion gets to choose the stipulation, but Jaxon has chosen standard matches since winning the title.
Good, fast-paced opener with Jaxon just being too damn big for Miguel, winning with a top rope splash.
Tye Or Die (the former Dub Club of KJ Reynolds, Ryan Matthias) got a win over first-time team Dante Leon and JJ Garrett. Good tag match with the more experienced Leon and Garrett being competitive but falling to TOD, who are more experienced as a team.
Garrett is frustrated after the loss and takes it out on Leon with a vicious attack.
"The Inevitable" Ace Austin finally gets some payback on one of the many people who have betrayed him lately, beating his former friend Damien Chambers (with Kayla Cassidy).
Good match. Chambers is really coming along.
Chambers tries to swerve Austin by pulling a classic Eddie Guerrero chair gimmick, slamming it on the mat and laying down while Cassidy held the ref's attention. The ref turned around and disqualified Austin.
I never get how suddenly refs can call something they didn't see in these situations but not 100 others.
Marella comes down, he saw what happened and orders the match restarted.
Austin gets the advantage, grabbing Chambers in a leglock and pinning his shoulders down (actually one was up but... details).
Mustafa Ali got a victory in a 3-Way match over "Firestarter" Jake Crist and Gringo Loco. Loco was originally scheduled to face TNA X Division champion Moose, but Moose was unable to make the show so he was put in the scheduled match between Ali and Crist.
Very good, athletic match-up.
Crist looked to be on his way to the win when masked men came down, with some getting the ref's attention and others pushing Crist off the top rope.
Ali pinned Crist with a 450 Splash.
The masked men then beat Crist down, with Loco grabbing a chair to make a low-energy save... until Ali talked to him and then he lays into Crist with the chair.
The masked men reveal themselves to be Chicago-area stars Bang and Matthews (Davey Bang, August Matthews), Koda Hernandez, and Sabien Gauge.
Ali challenges REVOLVER to come up with 5 of their own to face them at WR's Chicago debut on April 5. Pretty good.
AJ Francis won a 6-Way Scramble match over his rival YouTube star BDE, the enormous Bigg Pound, Jeffrey John, Juni Underwood, and Dark Pledge (with Killer Kelly) to become the number one contender to the Remix title.
Entertaining bout. Everyone got to have some good moments before Francis destroys BDE with his chokeslam finish. That should effectively end their feud and set up a true Hoss Fight between Francis and Jaxon.
New champions crowned as Gia Miller's The Macabre, Dreadknot (the former Madman Fulton) and "The Atrocity" Krule, defeated Alpha Sigma Sigma (Brent Oakley, KC Jacobs) for the REVOLVER Tag Titles.
Honestly, this was overbooked like a mofo.
The Macabre were dominant for long stretches but this went on way too long with a finish that was overly messy and unnecessary.
There's a ref bump to allow the giants to bring a door into the ring, something no one gets disqualified for in REVOLVER.
The champs still get the upper hand until the lights go very dim with a lighter-holding Miller in the ring and the sudden appearance of new Macabre member: Alan Angels with a new look.
They triple-team the champs, throw the ref back in and he counts out Oakley.
I like the Alphas, but this should have been half the time with Angels figured in some other way after the match. The monsters looked way too vulnerable to these much smaller, less experienced guys they should have steamrolled.
At the same time, the Macabre is a great visual and should be a strong heel crew now that all the others are basically gone.
In a wild brawl literally all over the venue, Matthew Palmer defeated his former Crew member and tag partner Rich Swann in an Unsanctioned Street Fight.
WR is known for out-of-control, over-the-top brawls and this was one. Fortunately, it was the only match of this nature to this point so it felt different than all the other matches.
Swann wants revenge for his former partner attacking him at both of the previous two REVOLVER events.
Swann's made a babyface change entirely and he's been great, both in WR and in his matches in Maple Leaf Wrestling last week.
They had all the plunder—doors, chairs, tables—but it was a pretty simple finish (for them) with Palmer two-hand choking Swann unconscious, picking him up and piledriving him off the middle rope through a door propped between two chairs for the victory.
He continued attacking Swann until Rich fought back, driving him through a chair Palmer had set up in the corner.
Swann gets a hot mic and, with both men still lying down, challenges Palmer to settle this in a Cage of Horrors match on their Clive return in June. Palmer eagerly accepts and they go back to fighting and choking each other until separated by security and other wrestlers (Jake Crist with a feat of strength, basically carrying Palmer around the ring like a giant baby).
A little... much, but they definitely went for BIG DRAMA and got it.
"The Young GOAT" Myron Reed was feeling confident, defending the Wrestling REVOLVER Title against a former champion (and former TNA World champion) "Bulletproof" Steve Maclin (with Killer Kelly), apparently the last holdouts of the RED faction.
Reed wanted to make it a No Disqualification match. Maclin agreed.
Very good match that had the misfortune of following the absolute insane match before it.
Crowd was split but leaned Reed, which made sense. Maclin has spent every day he's been in WR as a top heel and his TNA face run hasn't necessarily spilled over, while Reed, though generally a heel, is a longtime REVOLVER star.
As they went, Maclin heeled a bit more, giving the crowd what they wanted.
Maclin blocking Reed's now-trademark cutter from the ring to the floor was a big move.
Reed looked to be going for a splash off the top with the WR title belt around his waist but Kelly stopped him.
Maclin got the advantage back and set up Reed for his Tag 'Em, Bag 'Em shoulder tackle when Kelly then low-blows him from behind.
Reed's facial expression suggested this was not a pre-planned action and Maclin's glare at Kelly was pitch-perfect.
Reed smashes Maclin with the title belt to the face and then pins him with a springboard 450.
He still seems shocked at Kelly's action and so is Dark Pledge.
Kelly then gives Pledge a knee to the groin with Reed laying him out too.
Some passionate kissing seems to lock in a new power couple for Wrestling REVOLVER.
Makes sense. I'm sure the ride home would have been uncomfortable if Kelly helped Maclin beat her real-life partner in Reed.
Heels really, REALLY ate on this show. The babyface locker room had to be a morbid place last night.
Very good show with some normal REVOLVER excess but not as much as they often have, and some restraint made for a better, less repetitive but still exciting show.
