ENABLING MOX, TRIBAL FANS, A TRULY BIZARRE QUESTION AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2025-04-01 10:00:00

You can send us questions for the PWInsider.com Q and A at pwinsider@gmail.com.

Are you serious that you turned off AEW because of Moxley's nail bump? Please! Sure,  it was rough but Mox knew what he was doing.  He likes to bleed,  plain and simple.  That was hard core wrestling.  Plain and simple.

That was pure and utter garbage, plain and simple. It has no place in pro wrestling.  If you liked it, great.  But if you think Mox had pinpoint control as to how he would land, and not take a nail somewhere that could have injured him badly, you don't know much about the human body.

Following up what some asked how Renee Paquette feels about the crazy things her husband does: why doesn’t she put her foot down and tell him that he’s her husband and the father of her child, and doing things like the nails in the back out him in danger. And why doesn’t Moxley have considerations for his family? He should want to live a long and happy life without putting himself in danger. He already had alcohol issues that he overcame and doesn’t need to do crazy things in the ring.

I literally have no idea. I know that my wife would put a stop on me doing the excessive things that Mox does.  Why Renee doesn’t do it?  I can’t say.  Maybe it was part of their deal when they got married.  Maybe Mox made it clear that he enjoyed self-immolation and if she couldn’t accept it, they would need to break up.  I honestly don’t know but like I said above, what he does a lot of the time is not professional wrestling.  I don’t know why Renee or Tony Khan enable his pain fetish, I really don’t.

If someone like Jade Cargill put on 100 pounds, would she still have a job?

This is one of the most bizarre questions I have ever received.  How do you expect me to even answer it?  Why do you even care?

Do you have any inkling as to whether fans in foreign countries have the "tribal" mentality as fans in the US? Do you think fans in Mexico, for example, are as divisive about AAA and CMLL?

From what I remember, back in the day there were fans, in Japan for example, that liked All Japan more than New Japan, but I don’t remember anything close to the venom that a lot of AEW fans have against WWE fans.

I am 36 and have been reading PWInsider since the infamous Brock/NFL story before WrestleMania in 2004. Needless to say, Mike and Dave have been a big, reliable part of my fandom for quite some time and I know there are lots more like me. Have you interviewed or spoken with talents in recent years that have admitted to following and reading your work before and/or since they broke into the business? There’s seemingly no shortage of performers that have valued another “journalist’s” opinion, but I’d compare that to reading tabloids about Bat Boy as opposed to you guys.

First off, thanks for your support.  It’s greatly appreciated!  Yes, over the years we have heard from a lot of people who were fans of our work, for the reason you mentioned.  When the other guy was “reporting” lies, we aimed to report the truth.  When I was the news guy, my mantra was always report as fact what I could prove. If I didn’t have first hand knowledge I would attribute it to sources, to make it clear it’s the story I was hearing but I wasn’t there so I can’t say it’s 100 percent fact.  That made me a lot of friends and sources in the business.  Mike took that to the next level and I am very proud of the work he does.
