Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs Matt Quay
It’s raining out so naturally, Conway is here. He tries to drain the enthusiasm from the room and pretend to be a big strong boy but Quay rallies and gets the three on a slingshot elbow drop. Love seeing Quay back. Rain continues to stake his claim as Open’s hateable punching bag.
Match 1: Liviyah vs Katrina Creed
Liviyah is fresh off beating four women in last weeks gauntlet but Katrina is more than happy to bully her. Liviyah works well from underneath and manages to hit her show stopper for the win! Quick and decent, Creed looked good in her debut here.
Match 2: Rex Lawless vs Bobby Orlando
Bobby knows that Rex has been keeping those pecs covered up since he joined the Residency…but mom has made it his goal to chop that meat. With that goal in mind, Rex stays on the power moves and keeps mom on her back. Bobby with the rally, the vest is ripped, the pecs are chopped and a sick trick cutter gets the three!
Ray Jaz is out here. He gives Bobby credit for being tough. He offers an olive branch of friendship…he wants to join forces! Bobby says he needs to walk his own path and declines the offer. “Bobby? You’ll regret this.”
Match 3: Ray Jaz vs Brett Mettro
The crowd just KNOWS to boo Ray Jaz here. How’d that happen? Mettro gets some offense in but, for a lot of this, he is a tackling dummy for the Jersey Legend. Jaz picks up a DOMINANT win after an AA.
Match 4: Tiara James vs Little Mean Kathleen
LMK takes a triple lap through the crowd, just getting right under James’ skin. Kathleen comes in like a ferocious tiny dog but the strength of James becomes a factor as the match goes on. LMK with the rally, hitting the running stomps and Flavor bomb but James reverses the bulldog and hits a top rope double knee for the win. This was fun.
Tiara James says she doesn’t need to lower herself to wrestling with Spike again. That sure sounds like an admission that she was the one who took Spike out of the gauntlet last week.
Match 5: GAL & Nick Batee vs Shooter Boys (Anthony Vecchio & Aaron Ortiz)
Batee with a megaphone continues to be delightful, even if I’m supposed to boo him. The Shooter Boys are making the most of their time here and letting their chemistry shine over the relatively newer tandem that I am calling the Gym Rats. Ortiz gets caught in a blindside and has to fight out of a rough beatdown. GAL playing the power role perfectly here while Batee won’t stop running his mouth. Vecchio never gets a chance to make the save as Gal boots him off the apron. Ortiz popped up into a cutter for the three. Shooter Boys showed out here but it’s getting obvious that Gal & Batee are getting VERY GOOD as a tandem.
Rich Palladino is serving as post match interviewer as the Gym Rats have some salty words for Rhode Island, as well as the team they attacked last week, Waves & Curls. Clearly, they didn’t look at the roster tonight because W&C make their entrance as Gal and Nick look dumbfounded on the stage. Traevon says he doesn’t like the Gym Rats trying to make their names on them. So next week, they challenge Gal & Batee to a showdown. The Gym Rats accept!
Match 6: Traevon Jordan (w/ Jaelyn Brandyn) vs Julius Draeger
This opponent may be too silly for Draeger’s taste but also way too good for him. The crowd is definitely PRO TRAEVON. Draeger refuses to dance. “Oh you WILL”. And he sure does after being properly stunned. It’s almost a shutout for Jordan before Draeger chops the throat and takes out the knee. Draeger’s fundamentals are good and he’s really trying to take that leg off. Traevon with the comeback and a second attempt at the chokeslam hits the mark and gets the three!
Main Event: Brett Ryan Gosselin & Danny Miles vs Fancy Ryan Clancy & Marcus Mathers
Didn’t BRG spend months trying to extract himself from the ranch? Well, I guess times change. Oh BRG says that Steven Stetson pulled Miles from the match because he was afraid of all the Clip Clop stuff coming up. So he talked to Open officials and they are letting him have TWO partners?!? What? Clancy and Marcus, in all fairness…they have a third too! RICKY SHANE PAGE.
Main Event: BRG, DJ Powers & Georgio Lawrence vs Fancy Ryan Clancy, Marcus Mathers & RSP
So the IWTV champion, the Wrestling Open champion and the co-founder of Beyond wrestling are on one side of this match. So naturally, the “king of Rhode Island”, the kickboxing champion and the 2am slice of greasy pizza have to resort to cheap tactics to get one over on this all-star squad. After some fun one upsmanship spots from Clancy and crew, it’s the Open champ who gets caught up in the triple team beating. Clancy escapes finally and gets Mathers in there to take the power back. BRG finally put in a spot he doesn’t want to be in…staring across from Clancy a week too early. But after that he finds himself in a worse position, his whole team staring across at a very fresh Ricky Shane Page. RSP clobbers all of them. He’s basically going full Kaiju on the opposing team. Tossing with abandon. Huge top rope senton to BRG! Clancy and Marcus hit an up kick side Russian to Lawrence…he kicks out?!? DJ and BRG swarm and post the champs. Superplex to RSP! Ricky is staggering as BRG hits an Unprettier for the three, before Marcus and Clancy can make the save. They took down RSP?!? Good match!
BRG and Co attack their opponents after the bell. Clancy eats an Unprettier as BRG puts a foot on him for a visual three count. Will we have a new champ next week???
And if we don’t…I dunno. Marcus just had what looked like “a moment” when he picked up Clancy’s belt to hand him. Hmmm.
