It’s Wednesday! We go straight to Jon Moxley and the Death Riders. Almost sounds like he’s dressing down his group but actually directs it to the roster. Moxley has no love or thanks for the Young Bucks at all. He wants to know who they really are.
Jon Moxley w/ Marina Shafir vs. Katsuyori Shibata
This is a non-title affair. They grapple at first. Moxley rolls out of a standing switch. Headscissors by Shibata. Moxley breaks it. They grapple more, Moxley with a takedown, reversal by Shibata. Moxley makes the ropes. Lockup, slap by Shibata. They trade chops (1). Boot to the face by Moxley, followed by another. And another. Heel trip by Shibata. Abdominal stretch by Shibata into an Octopus. Running knee by Shibata. Lariat by Moxley for 1. Piledriver by Moxley. Running PK by Shibata. Choke by Shibata. Reversal by Moxley and Shibata passes out.
WINNER: JON MOXLEY
The Young Bucks come out. Moxley and Shafir walk off. The Bucks praise Moxley and demand respect from the crowd. They claim they did what they did for Hangman Page. They said Sunday was also a peace offering to the Death Riders. Last Sunday was their pitch for the Death Riders to join the Elite.
Here comes Kenny Omega. He tells the Bucks they forgot about him. He references the last time they saw each other, when Omega was attacked at the height of his diverticulitis. Omega talks about his high school friend’s dog pooping on the floor. Da hell? The crowd is chanting “DOOKIE.” I think Omega just inferred the Bucks are cucks. Omega insults them. Omega wants a fight. Kazuchika Okada comes out. Swerve Strickland then comes out. The Bucks and Okada bail. Nana is dancing. Swerve and Omega fist bump and Omega leaves.
Swerve has the mic and proclaims it’s Buck Hunting Season. Pac attacks Swerve from behind. The referee is in the ring. We go to commercial.
Swerve Strickland vs. Pac
Kick by Swerve. Swerve with punches and kick to the face. Pac to the floor. Swerve with a kick to the face. Into the steps goes the Bastard. Back in the ring, Pac with a shoulder block. Swerve blocks a rana and nails a buckle bomb. Running uppercut off the 2nd rope by Swerve. Dr. Samson checks on Pac. There’s a break in the action. Pac comes back and eats a superkick. Swerve Stomp and Swerve scores the pin.
WINNER: SWERVE STRICKLAND
They went home quick. I hope Pac is okay. Swerve says he’s ready for Blood and Guts.
Renee Paquette is with Hangman Page, who is unhinged and storms off. He breaks into Swerve’s locker room. He threatens Prince Nana. Nana personally tries to apologize, Page cuts him off.
Ricochet, The Beast Mortos, Action Andretti and Lio Rush vs. Will Ospreay, Speedball Bailey, Kevin Knight and Mark Briscoe in a $400,000 match.
I guess each winner gets a $100,000 prize. My apologies as I had a call from nature and missed the first few minutes. Kevin Knight and Speedball Bailey with moonsaults to the floor. Ricochet misses a dive and each opponent chops him as we go to commercial.
We are back and Bailey kicks Mortos for 2. Side kicks by Bailey. Lungblower by Mortos. Briscoe has tagged and cleans house. This is AEW 8-man insanity. No man except Richard Trionfo could keep up with this. DVD by Ricochet on Bailey for 2. Bailey kicks Mortos, who might be legal. Oscutter to Mortos. Knight with a splash for 2. Ultimately, Ospreay hits a Hidden Blade on Mortos for the pin.
WINNERS: WILL OSPREAY, MARK BRISCOE, SPEEDBALL BAILEY & KEVIN KNIGHT
Larry Zbyszko would have taken the whole $400,000.
We see what happened with Rated FTR Sunday. Cope is out indefinitely. Tony Schiavone is upset with FTR. Remember that later on…
MVP and The Hurt Syndicate come out. There’s a table in the ring. They toast and celebrate their title defense Sunday night. MJF comes out. He poses beside Shelton. MJF takes credit for the Syndicate winning Sunday. He wants the Syndicate's help. Lashley tells him to shut up. Lashley is indignant to MJF. MJF and Lashley yell at each other. MVP wants peace. MVP says joining the Syndicate requires three thumbs up. MVP is up, Shelton is down. Bobby walks off. As does MVP.
Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford are backstage. Bayne says Toni Storm will bow down to her.
Owen Hart Tournament 1st Round: Thunder Rosa vs. Kris Statlander
Toni Storm has joined commentary. Lockup, armdrag by Rosa. Side headlock by Statlander into a shoulder block. Rollup for 2 by Rosa. Armbar by Rosa. Chop by Statlander into a dropkick. Running uppercut by Statlander. Rosa misses a splash. Running dropkick by Rosa. 2-count by Rosa. Kick and a DDT by Statlander as we go to commercial.
We are back and Rosa drops Statlander on the top turnbuckle. Rana by Rosa into a suplex for 2. Chinlock by Rosa. Blue Thunder Bomb by Statlander for 2. Side kick by Rosa. Armdrag by Rosa into a Destroyer for 2. Running knee for 2 by Rosa. Lariat and Tombstone by Statlander and she scores the pin.
WINNER: KRIS STATLANDER
I honestly thought Rosa was winning.
Don Callis is with Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita backstage. The Don Callis Family is accepting new members.
We hear from new TNT Champion Adam Cole.
Chris Jericho comes out. The obscenely expensive Jeritron 5000 is in the ring. He congratulates Bandido on winning Sunday night. He seems upset with his “family.” Out comes Big Bill & Bryan Keith. I have a bad feeling about this. Bill stops Jericho from talking. Bill is angry. Keith tries to interrupt but gets shut down. Bill says he is not Jericho’s punching bag. Jericho indicates it might be Bill’s fault he lost the ROH Title. He’s just disappointed. He destroys the Jeritron 5000 with a bat. Jericho says it’s best he leaves. Keith and Bill seem to be in disagreement.
We see what happened Sunday with Max Caster and Anthony Bowens.
Alicia Atout is with the Hurt Syndicate. Lashley and Benjamin don’t need MJF. MJF joins after Shelton and Lashley walk off. MJF wants an answer and is tired of being treated like a female dog.
Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Samoa Joe & Hook
Yuta and Joe start off. Go-behind by Yuta into a wristlock by Joe. Forearm by Yuta, he bails. Claudio tags in and hits a kick and an uppercut. Running elbow and an enzuigiri by Joe. Yuta tags in and misses a splash. Hook tags in and nails 2 Germans. Joe is back and he hits punches in the corner. Elbow drops by Joe. Yuta tags in and the action spills to the floor as we go to commercial.
We are back and it’s Yuta with a chinlock in the center. Belly-to-back by Yuta for 2. Claudio tags in. Elbows and forearms by Hook. Knee by Claudio. T-Bone by Hook. Yuta tags in and hits Joe. Suplex by Hook, Joe isn’t there for the tag. Uppercut by Claudio. Combination Sling Blade by the Death Riders. Redrum by Hook, Moxley comes out. Shibata comes out and nails a choke on Moxley. Redrum by Hook and the ref calls for the bell.
WINNERS: SAMOA JOE & HOOK
The Death Riders (minus Pac) attack the ops. Claudio with a Neutralizer on Hook on a chair and the Death Riders run off. Joe takes the mic. He wants the Death Riders back in the ring. Joe challenges them for the Trios Title.
