It is Saturday and Collision is live in the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.
Tony Schiavone lets us know that Pac is injured, so Jon Moxley will be taking his place in the Death Riders for the Trios Championship.
FTR, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, come to the ring to explain their actions taking out Cope at Dynasty. Cash says what happened Sunday was not easy and it was not a premeditated action, but the more Dax talked, the more it made sense. He says he saw that Cope held down their careers to build up his own. He says Cope didn’t respect him as a man, so he had to pay.
Dax grabs the mic and says it is the cool thing to do to boo FTR when they are talking. The fans didn’t reach their dreams, so they have to make their own. Dax says instead of asking them why, they should thank FTR because they gave Cope what he wanted. He begged for relevance at FTR’s expense, so they gave it to him. Dax says he doesn’t care if anyone agrees, but they did what was right. They waited for four months and the only thing they could do was be his Edgeheads and help him chase past glories.
Dax then calls Tony into the ring. Nigel tells him to stay where he is, but Tony has known them for years and will listen to what they have to say. Dax calls Tony out for what he said about them on Dynamite and asks if he would want to tell them to their face. Tony says a calmer version of what he said on Dynamite. Dax asks what he said about his family. Tony says he wonders how his daughter felt on Monday when she had to answer her friends.
FTR sets out to attack him and Nigel gets in the ring to save him. Daniel Garcia runs in to save Tony and Dax knocks him down and then acts shocked as if he didn’t want to do it. FTR hug Daniel and then leave the ring.
We then get a promo from Toni Storm where she makes comments about every woman in the Owen Hart Tournament. Great stuff.
Jamie Hayter vs. Billie Starkz – Owen Hart Tournament match
They run the ropes and Hayter goes for a strike, and Starkz drops to the mat. Starkz calls for a handshake and then uses the handshake to whip Hayter into the ropes and drop her with a rear spin kick. They fight on the apron and Starkz kicks Hayter to the floor. Starkz dives into a blow from Hayter, who then tosses Starkz into the barricade.
They brawl on the floor and Starkz dives from the timekeeper’s rail onto Hayter and rolls her into the ring. When she goes to the top, Hayter meets her there, but Starkz knocks her down. Starkz misses a stomp but gets a knee strike. Hayter retaliates with a spinebuster for two. Hayter and Starkz fight in the corner, and Hayter drops Starkz for two. Starkz throws forearms but Hayter slams Starkz by pulling her hair, and Starkz rolls to the floor as we go to picture-in-picture.

Starkz gets a series of attacks out of the corner and then a German suplex with a bridge for two. Hayter fights off a pair of suplexes, but Starkz gets a snapdragon suplex into a rear chinlock. Hayter fights out of it and gets a snapmare for two.
Hayter gets the Hayterade for two. Hayter hits a series of forearms and Starkz is able to get a backslide for one. Starkz gets a twisting neckbreaker for two. Starkz goes to the top and hits a Swanton Bomb for two. They fight on the apron and Hayter gets a vertical suplex from the apron to the floor.
Both women dive into the ring to beat the ten count. They trade blows until Hayter gets a backbreaker followed by a short-arm clothesline for the pin and the win.
Winner and moving on: Jamie Hayter
Next is a promo from the Death Riders about how they expected casualties. They accept the Opps’ challenge for the Trios Championship. Mox then talks about how if they want glory, they have to step up and be ready for violence. Mox then tells Hook to relax because chicks dig scars.
Gates of Agony (Toa Leona and Bishop Kaun) vs. the Already In The Ring Smash and Burn (Juni Underwood and Ricky Price)
Gates of Agony are back on AEW after being on Ring of Honor for a while. And this match is shorter than the time it took for me to Google Smash and Burn’s name.
Winners: Gates of Agony
FTR are confronted in the back by Matt Menard and Angelo Parker, who challenge them for a match tonight, and FTR accepts.
Anthony Bowens w/ Billy Gunn vs. Blake Christian w/ Lee Johnson
Blake was already in the ring when Bowens came out, but I don’t think this will be an Already In The Ring match.
Bowens starts with a slam and a front facelock. They work to their feet and Bowens gets a rollup for two. Blake gets a springboard dropkick in the corner and slaps the back of Bowens’ head. Bowens lays in chops and a spinning face slam for two as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Blake is kicking Bowens in the head dismissively. They run the ropes and Bowens gets a Famouser. He follows up with the Grand Slam for two. They fight on the apron and Blake runs Bowens into the ring post and then dives around the turnbuckle into Bowens. When they return to the ring, Bowens gets a big kick and follows with a spinning DDT for two, and Johnson puts Blake’s foot on the rope.

Blake is able to get a stunner out of the ropes after they trade quick strikes. Bowens gets a thrust kick and then knocks Johnson off the apron. Gunn drops Johnson and Bowens hits the spinning elbow strike he calls a Mollywop for the pin and the win.
Winner: Anthony Bowens
Bowens grabs a mic after the match to put himself over.
Megan Bayne w/ Penelope Ford vs. The Already In The Ring LMK and Kelly Madden
A two-on-one match where Bayne just beats the tar out of both women before pinning both after hitting the Fate’s Descent on Madden onto LMK.
Winner: Megan Bayne
Kevin Knight vs. AR Fox
Lots of quick moves into a series of two counts. Knight gets a rotating splash for two before they start throwing hands. They fight through the ropes and execute lots of quick high-flying moves. Fox hits a shooting star press from the apron to the floor onto Knight as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Knight gets a standing dropkick on Fox coming off the ropes. Knight fires in attacks in the corner and gets a pop-up powerslam for two. Fox shoves off a DDT and then runs into back elbows in the corner, but hits Lo Mein Pain followed by a 450 for two. Knight gets a rollup for two and then gets a dropkick. He gets a hurricanrana off the top followed by a DDT and then hits the springboard forearm for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kevin Knight
A crowd-pleasing spotfest where both guys do a lot of hold/counterhold sequences.
The Gates of Agony challenge the Hurt Syndicate to hurt them on Collision.
FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. 2.0 (Matt Menard and Angelo Parker)
As time goes on, I don’t see Menard as a wrestler, but as a character and a member of the commentary team. Daniel Garcia comes out in street clothes to be at ringside.
Dax immediately attacks Menard when the bell rings as Cash beats down Parker on the floor. Menard has been busted open as Dax keeps beating him down in the ring. Cash gets on the apron as Parker is laid out on the floor. Menard tries to fight back and beats down Dax in the corner. Cash pulls him off and Menard drops him. Dax tags in Cash and they hit the assisted piledriver. They then hit a second as Parker is laying on the apron. When they pull Menard up for a third, Garcia gets on the apron and tells them to stop.
FTR then pin Menard for the win.
Winners: FTR
Garcia checks on Menard and then gets in FTR’s face about it. FTR leave the ring, and when Garcia is helping Menard up, they attack Garcia and then hit him with the assisted piledriver. They set up to do it again, and security hits the ring, but FTR attack security.
This brings out the Undisputed Era to run them off.
FTR do a nice bit of business when Cash tries to calm down security after FTR throw the first punches.
Athena vs. Harley Cameron – Owen Hart Tournament match
They lock up and Athena forces them to the corner quickly, then pats Harley on the head. Harley grabs a side headlock and then trips Athena and pats her on the head. Harley and Athena trade quick two counts. Athena gets a side headlock and shoves Harley into the corner. They fight in the ropes and Harley gets a leg headlock on the ropes, breaking at four. Athena slams Harley on the apron and then gets a suplex from the apron to the floor as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Athena has Harley in a bow-and-arrow hold. Harley is able to break free and cover for two. Harley gets a Russian leg sweep and runs into a leg lariat from Athena, who follows with a running thrust kick for two. Athena carries Harley to the corner, puts her in the Tree of Woe and then lays in kicks. Harley is able to get kicks of her own to get free. She follows with a clothesline and an enzuigiri. Harley lays in blows in the ropes and goes to the top.
Harley gets a flying crossbody but Athena rolls through and hoists her. Harley makes it into a hurricanrana. Athena runs into a fist from Harley, who follows with a thrust kick and a cover for two. Athena escapes Harley’s finishing move. Harley comes off the ropes for a failed spinning DDT that turns into a rollup for two. Athena hits Sole Food and then a pair of powerslams followed by a twisting knee strike. Athena goes to the top for an O-Face for the pin and the win.
Winner and moving on in the tournament: Athena
Lots of botched moves in the final sequence that hurt a match that was going well.
We then get a pretape from Mercedes Moné hyping her appearance in Boston and that she will beat Athena when they meet there.
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Brody King w/ Julia Hart – Owen Hart Tournament match
They lock up and King forces them to the corner. Takeshita gets a side headlock and is shot off into the ropes. Takeshita tries a shoulder tackle and blows, but is chopped down by King. Brody fights out of a suplex attempt and suplexes Takeshita. He follows up with chops in the corner. Takeshita is shot across the ring into the turnbuckle. King misses a senton and Takeshita leaps onto King from the top, but both men are down.
They fight on the apron and King gets a Death Valley Driver on the apron. Takeshita is rolled into the ring and then rolls out the other side and sits in a chair at ringside. King charges, but Takeshita cuts him off with a leaping knee and a dive from the ring onto King as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, both men are down and struggling to get up after a superplex. King is up first and gets the cannonball in the corner for two. King tries for a powerbomb, but Takeshita fights out. Takeshita gets strikes and King drops him with a single chop. Takeshita fires in forearms and King fires back with chops. Takeshita gets a big forearm and covers King for two.

King hits Dante’s Inferno for two. Takeshita escapes out the back of a pickup and gets a package slam, then forces King up for a suplex. Takeshita drops King with a clothesline for two.
Takeshita gets a running knee and a second knee for two. Takeshita pulls down the knee pad and hits a knee to the back of the head and another to the front for the pin and the win.
Winner and moving on: Konosuke Takeshita
Good hoss fight for a main event and both men threw everything at each other.
