ASE Wrestling made their Las Vegas debut at the Future Stars of Wrestling Arena.
Gerard Bonner and Goldman host with Christopher Lea, Big Swole and comedian KevOnStage working commentary. Nadiah Hunter was fantastic as usual as the ring announcer. She's great.
They were pretty good.
AJ Francis (carrying his Reality of Wrestling TV title) of First Class won the Ettore Invitational (all big men) scramble match over Calvin Tankman, Papa Jace, Reyhan Inteus (filling in for O'Shay Edwards), Moses. This match had a combined weight of over 1500lbs. Poor ring. This was good. These big rascals were throwing in some heavy shots with some good comedy thrown in.
Francis pinned Moses with the Down Payment chokeslam. He and Inteus made peace after, sharing Lil Debbie creampies.
Francis promises to win the TNA International title later that night at the Unbreakable event. Good start that never overstayed it's welcome.
Very good athletic match between young rising stars and occasional tag partners as TNA star Leon Slater fell to Man Like Dereiss. This was good and much more physical than expected. MLD won with a nasty looking twisting piledriver. They got a standing ovation.
ASE Wrestling favorite and member of the Bomaye Fight Club, Faye Jackson and WWE Hall of Famer and former Women's champion Jazz presented the new ASE Women's Championship title belt.
Nice moment. Jackson honored Jazz for her contributions. They announce the tournament starts at this show. That was cool. Jazz then tells Faye she will be in the tournament.
A match that's been built up for nearly a year finally happened as former Knockouts World tag champions Fire N Flava faced former NWA Women's World tag champions the King Bees. These were the first Black champs for both respective companies (FnF were the first Black champs of any major promotion in decades). Before the match, Hogan called out "The Spark" Jada Stone, who had replaced her in a losing effort when this match was scheduled originally last June. Hogan tells her to take a seat ringside and watch. Good back and forth match with the former KO champs taking a definite lead on Bee, even cutting off a strong comeback from King (who has an amazing hot tag). Fire N Flava look like they were on the way to victory but Hogan got caught up barking at Stone. The Bees made a comeback with King pinning Steelz with a powerslam. Good finish. Hogan and Steelz are furious with Hogan continuing to berate Stone all the way to the back. This story is not over.
In a battle of grossly underrated wrestlers, Suge D successfully retained the Pan Afrikan World Diaspora title against former WWE World tag champion JTG. TG used superior power to keep the pressure on D but the champ rallied and used his superior grappling to secure the pin and a big victory. Cameo from Keith Mack in his amazing "Akeem" look from this past Halloween.
Advancing in the freshly announced Women's Title tournament, "The Spark" Jada Stone defeated 22 yr veteran La Rosa Negra, making her ASE Wrestling debut and looking great. La Rosa came in with a lot of intensity and energy, with Stone being a great sympathetic "babyface in peril". This might be their first time against each other as there were a couple miscues but nothing to throw the match off.
Rosa missed a Frog Splash with Stone winning with a stunner. Nice.
The main event had a lot of subplots (too many for me to knock out here) with ASE Men's Champion "The All Father" Darius Carter leading the team of "Frontman" Jah-C, Ashton Starr, Movie Myk, and, making his ASE debut, 2 time former TNA X Division champion Kenny King falling to the team of "The Revolutionary" Darius Carter and his team comprised of Darian Bengston, "The Gifted One" Yahya, "Fast As Hell" Ian Maxwell (my favorite nickname), and former Ring of Honor World champion "The Octopus" Jonathan Gresham in a 10 man tag match. After an announcement of a rematch between Carter and Lockhart at their June event in Charlotte from ASE Wrestling Commissioner Caprice Coleman and some quick verbal jabs between the two men (KevOnStage caught a stray), they have a pretty good main event. Well laid out where everyone had their moments to shine while still having a good tag match. The younger guys really got to shine in this one. Carter had Lockhart at a disadvantage but chose to focus on continuing to insult KevOnStage. Kev did trip Carter but only after Carter came at him first so I can see a ref letting that go. Lockhart tossed him from the ring and rollups up Jah-C for the win, staring down Carter. No time to celebrate as Jah drops Lockhart. He and Carter deliver a spike piledriver to Lockhart before being chased from the ring. It ain't ASE if it doesn't end with Carter getting some heat.
Very good show, continuing a run of very good shows.
