PROGRESS WRESTLING 179 REPORT FROM LAS VEGAS

Progress 179: Las Vegas was held at the Pearl Theater At Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada at 12 am on 4/17/2025.

Commentary was by Jack Farmer, Rich Bocchini and Veda Scott

Lykos Gym (Kid Lykos & Kid Lykos II) vs Boisterous Behavior (Leon Slater & Man Like DeReiss)

For clarity, I will call Kid Lycos II “Two” through this recap.

Two and Slater start and Slater quickly forces them to the corner and Slater pulls Two out with a choke, but Two grabs a wrist lock and then a head scissors takedown. They get to their feet and shove each other before running the ropes and Two gets a tejaris. Lykos tags in and they double-team Slater, who escapes and tags in DeReiss and he gets taken down immediately. Lykos tries for a brain buster, but DeReiss blocks him. They fight to the corner and Slater tags in and they do a double team takedown for two.

Lykos is trapped in Boisterous’s corner, where they work him over with quick tags and Lykos trying to get away for a tag. Lykos cartwheels off the second rope and dives for the tag to Two. Two runs wild and he is stopped by DeReiss stropping a casadora and making it a back suplex.

Lykos rushes the ring and gets sliced bread and nails Slater in the stomach when he comes off the top. Lykos calls for a brain buster and Slater instead gets a lethal combination and gets a big chop on Two. Two gets a kick from Slater on top and then a Spanish Fly off the top for two. Lykos Gym gets a series of double team attacks on Slater, and DeReiss gets a spear to break it up. 

Lykos Gym call for the brain buster, but DeReiss catches Slater. All four men fight in the ring with Boisterous Behavior getting twin corner attacks. Two is kept in the ring and they hit a Shatter Machine on Two. DeReiss is tagged in and goes to the top and gets a 450, but Two gets the knees-up. Slater and Lycos are on top and Lycos hits a brain buster from the top. Lykos Gym gets a superkick on DeReiss and then a Brain Buster. Two is able to get the pin and the win.

Winners: Lycos Gym

1 Called Manders (WXW Unified Title) vs Tate Mayfairs vs. Marcus Mathers

Manders and Tate have word and Mathers takes the initiative and attacks both. Manders shoulder tackles Mathers down and Tate drop-kicks Manders out of the ring and Mathers takes down Tate. Mathers gets a front roll and a leaping kick for one.  Tate gets a series of quick running attacks and then poses for the crowd. Manders chops him down as he comes off the ropes and then drops Mathers.

Tate and Manders throw hands in the middle of the ring. Manders lifts Tate and slams him into the ropes. Mathers goes for a crossbody and Manders slams him. Manders is able to beat down one and then the other as he knocks Tate out of the ring. He misses a pair of elbow drops on Mathers. Mathers gets a springboard crossbody and Manders rolls out of the ring.

Tate gets a big kick on Mathers and Mathers follows with a big clothesline on Tate. Mathers gets a Liger Bomb for two, broken up by Manders. Tate gets a high running knee and Tate knocks Mathers out as he tries to re-enter the ring. Tate gets another running knee on Manders and goes to the top for a flying elbow for two until Mathers breaks it up.

Tate beats down Mathers and Mathers gets a leaping cutter and then dives onto Manders on the floor. Mathers goes back to the top and misses a leap. Manders nails Tate with a big clothesline and then Mathers takes advantage of Manders with big running kicks. Manders hits Mathers with a big lariat for the pin and the win.

Winner and still WXW Unified Champion: 1 Called Manders

Mike D Vecchio vs Kuro

Kuro attacks Mike as he gets on the apron and Kuro gets a series of dives onto him. Miek gets into the ring and Kuro gets a series of charges into the corner, swarming Mike. Mike finally grabs Kuro, but Kuro escapes off the back and gets a single leg drop-kick and Mike goes to the floor. Kuro leaps onto Mike, who catches him and power bombs him into the apron. 

Mike dominates the brawl on the floor. They return to the ring and Kuro gets a big boot and a leap over Mike, who gets a big boot, knocking Kuro to the mat. Mike gets a gut wrench pickup but Kuro escapes out the back. Mike stops his attack with a pop-up powerbomb. Mike gets a spinning gut wrench power bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner: Mike D Vecchio

Pretty much a squash to showcase Mike’s sheer power.  With his body builder look and size, he won’t stay in the indies for long.

Nina Samuels (Progress Women’s Champion) vs Rhio vs Vert Vixen

We are told Vert and Rhio have had issues all day today. 

Vert and Rhio attack each other as Nina leaves the ring. Rhio gets a crossbody for two. They run the ropes and Rhio dives into Nina on the floor. Vert gets a baseball slide into Nina. Rhio and Vert fight on the floor. They return to the ring and Nina stays on the floor. Rhio gets a backbreaker and Nina gets the pin on Vert for two. 

Vert and Nina are left in the ring and Nina tries to get Vert to work with her, but Vert attacks instead. They run the ropes, Vert stops her after Nina tries to lift Vert and Vert lays in strikes and an elbow drop for two. Rhio gets into the ring and her and Vert trade waistlocks. Rhio gets a suplex and Nina pulls Rhio down by her hair and does the ground and pound.

Nina kicks Vert out of the ring and then clubs Rhio down. Rhio gets a jawbreaker and then a series of shoulder thrusts. Nina gets a drop toehold into the corner, does the same to Vert and hits double knees on both in the corner and covers Vert for one. Nina works over Vert in the ropes and follows with a drop-kick into Vert’s back for two. Nina kicks Rhio to the floor and puts in kicks on Vert, who gets to her feet and throws hands. ‘

Rhio goes to the top and hits a double drop-kick on them. Rhio beats down Nina in the corner and then hits an insigiri on Vert and follows with a swinging neckbreaker. Rhio gets a headbutt on Nina. All three women are down and when they get up Rhio is taken out with kicks from Vert and Nina. Vert gets a jackknife pin for two. Vert gets a back body drop and then hits a blue thunder bomb on Nina for two.

Vert and Nina fight through the ropes on the apron and Vert gets a vertical brain buster from the outside in, broken up by Rhio. Rhio hoists Vert for a backbreaker and Nina grabs a rollup for two with a handful of tights. Rhio gets a package piledriver for two on Nina and Vert pulls the ref out of the ring. 

Vert takes out Rhio on the floor and Vert scrambles to the ring for two. They work to their feet and Nina slams Vert by her hair and pulls her up for a GTS for the pin and the win.

Winner and still Women’s Champion: Nina Samuals

After the match, Rhio hits Vert with a pair of package pile drivers before going to the back. 

Simon Miller (Proteus Champion) vs Effy vs Adam Priest vs Charles Crowley vs Paul Walter Hauser

This is a scramble match and is NOT going to be able to be covered normally.  THAT’S RIGHT, IT’S BULLET LIST TIME!!!

  • Simon Miller is super over as he should be

  • Lots of big personalities in this and yes, that is the actor Paul Walter Hauser who they state has been training legitimately.

  • Crowley does a comedy bit with his hat at the start of the match and uses it to get in surprise blows.

  • Effy cuts off a dive from Priest. 

  • Hauser knocks Crowley to the floor and cannonballs onto everyone on the floor. 

  • Miller dives onto everyone as well. 

  • Crowley gets a leaping cutter on Miller for the first two count.

  • Miller gets a series of tackles on Crowley for two, broken up by Hauser. 

  • Hauser and Effy work in the ring with Hauser getting a diving headbutt for two off the second rope. 

  • Effy gets a Northern Lights suplex on Hauser for two. 

  • Priest gets a DDT onto the apron on Effy. Priest and Hauser get in the ring and Hauser gets a pile driver for two, broken up by Miller and Crowley.

  • Crowley and Miller get slammed into each other by Effy

  • Effy gets a Famouser for two. Miller gets a spear on Effy and pulls down the straps. 

  • Miller pulls Effy into a vertical suplex and Crowley hits Miller with the green mist. 

  • Hauser and Crowley face each other and Hauser gets a pop-up Samoan drop

  • Priest nails Hauser with a chair and Hauser hits a front face slam on the chair and covers Crowley for the pin and the win.

Winner and NEW Progress Proteus Champion: Paul Walter Hauser

Minoru Suzuki vs Cara Noir

They lock up and Suzuki gets a double wrist lock. They go to the mat and Suzuki turns it into a head scissors. Noir grapples his way out and Suzuki turns it into a leg bar and Noir kicks free. They trade chops in the middle of the ring. Noir grabs a headlock and Suzuki grabs an arm bar on the mat and bends back Noir’s hand before stomping on it. 

Suzuki is laughing at Noir and he reverses an arm bar. Noir reverses it again and Suzuki goes to the ropes for a break. They trade forearms through the ropes. Noir leaps at Suzuki and nails his own throat in the ropes. Suzuki ties Noir up in the ropes and then pulls him to the floor where he slams Noir into the ringpost while in a hammer lock. Suzuki grabs another arm bar on the floor and bends the hand back. 

Noir is able to lay in some forearms and Suzuki drops him with a jab. They trade blows and Suzuki easily wins the exchange. He rolls Noir into the ring and locks on another arm bar before switching up to a half crab. Suzuki twists it into an ankle lock and Noir is able to escape and get a running sliding kick. Noir is selling the arm and leg.

Noir gets blows in the corner but Suzuki reverses it and gets a running kick, a snap mare and a big kick for two. Suzuki kicks and stomps Noir’s head. He then starts slapping Noir’s head as he gets to his hands and knees. They trade chops again and Suzuki laughs as he gets chopped. Suzuki yells “F you” and drops Noir with a forearm. Noir hits a flurry of blows and kicks when he gets up. Noir grabs a sleeper from behind. 

Suzuki gets to the ropes and takes his time to get up. Noir gets a neck breaker and a rear choke as Suzuki stands and pulls Noir over and plants him on the top of his head. Suzuki gets a stalling Gotch piledriver for the pin and the win.

Winner: Minoru Suzuki

Luke Jacobs (Progress World Champion) vs. Michael Oku (w/Amira Blair)

They go face to face before the introductions and do not break through them.

They throw hands once the bell rings. Jacobs gets a shoulder tackle. Oku follows up with a drop-kick and then a dive onto Jacobs on the floor. Oku is the first one in the ring and Jacobs is able to sweep the leg on the apron and Oku hits the floor. Jacobs then slams Oku back first on the apron and adds a slap for good measure. Jacobs stomps Oku down in the corner, and pulls him up for chops and knees. Jacobs nails kicks and a lateral press. He nails a big strike to the head. Jacobs lays in blows to the midsection in the ropes and drops Oku with a spinning back elbow for two.

Jacobs gets a scoop slam and a two count. Jacobs fires in crossface strikes. He then beats down Oku in the corner. Oku fires a single blow and then hits a drop-kick off the second rope. Oku starts firing blows into Jacobs in the ropes and pops him HARD and hits a pair of DDTs for two. 

Oku comes off the top and Jacobs dodges it. Oku gets a punt kick and then escapes a suplex from Jacobs and Jacobs gets a kick and Oku gets another punt kick. Jacobs hits a lariat on the apron and Oku clipped the apron on the way down. Jacobs pulls him onto the stage for a suplex. 

Jacobs goes to the ring and gets in Amira’s face. Oku leaps from the stage on Jacobs, rolls him into the ring and hits a frog splash for two. Oku nails a drop-kick in the corner and runs into a one arm slam from Jacobs. Jacobs gets a big lariat and then a pop-up power bomb for two. 

Both men struggle to get to their feet. Jacobs gets a running clothesline in the corner and then ups Oku on the top. Jacobs knocks Oku to the mat, but Jacobs gets a headbutt and then a super plex. Oku grabs a small package for two. Jacobs gets a forearm and a German suplex. Oku picks the leg as Jacobs charges and Oku is able to grab a half crab. Jacobs slowly crawls to the ropes, but Oku pulls him back and Jacobs pulls Oku over. Oku gets a poisonrana and a superkick. 

Oku goes to the top and hits the frog splash for two only. Oku immediately grabs a half crab. Jacobs slowly crawls to the ropes and grabs it after nearly tapping. They trade slaps in the middle of the ring. They run the ropes and Oku gets a lariat and goes to the top. Oku leaps into an uppercut from Jacobs and then hits a lariat for one. Jacobs gets a lariat from behind and hits another lariat for the pin and the win.

Winner and still Progress World Champion: Luke Jacobs
