Survivor: The 1-2-3 Kid
â–º Bertha Faye, Aja Kong, Tomoko Watanabe, & Lioness Aska defeated WWF Women's Champion Alundra Blayze, Kyoko Inoue, Chapparita Asari, & Sakie Hasegawa in a team elimination match.
Harvey Whippleman accompanied Bertha Faye to ringside.
Eliminations: Alundra Blayze pinned Lioness Aska following a German suplex. Aja Kong hit a devastating suplex on Sakie Hasegawa and made the pin. Kong pinned Chapparita Asari following a splash from the second rope, and then pinned Kyoko Inoue by sitting on her when Inoue attempted a sunset flip. Alundra Blayze rebounded, and eliminated Tomoko Watanabe following a piledriver and Bertha Faye following a German suplex. Aja Kong hit Alundra Blayze with a spinning back hand and pinned her to win the match for her team.
Survivor: Aja Kong
This was Alundra Blayze's last WWF television appearance, as she would soon leave the WWF for WCW. Her next television appearance (as Madusa) was on WCW Monday Nitro, where she shocked the wrestling world by throwing the WWF Women's Championship into a trash can.
Following the match, Todd Pettingill interviewed "President Clinton" in the audience, but the interview was cut short when Bam Bam Bigelow's ring pyro startled the "President," causing the "Secret Service" to tackle Pettingill.
â–º Goldust made his Survivor Series debut, pinning Bam Bam Bigelow following a running bulldog.
Following the match, we returned to Todd Pettingill and "President Clinton" in the audience, now joined by Mr. Bob Backlund. Backlund and the "President" debated politics as the segment died a painful death.
â–º The Dark Side: Undertaker, Savio Vega, Fatu, & Henry Godwinn defeated The Royals: King Mabel, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Isaac Yankem D.D.S., & Hunter Hearst Helmsley in a team elimination match.
Paul Bearer accompanied Undertaker to ringside. Sir Mo accompanied King Mabel.
Leading to the match, the Undertaker was looking for revenge against King Mabel for crushing his orbital socket six weeks earlier on Monday Night Raw. This was the return of the Undertaker following the injury, and the debut of his grey protective mask.
Eliminations: The Undertaker eliminated Jerry Lawler following a tombstone piledriver. Isaac Yankem was also pinned following a tombstone. The Undertaker next eliminated Hunter Hearst Helmsley, this time following a chokeslam. Shawn Michaels hit Yokozuna with Sweet Chin Music, and Ahmed Johnson followed up with a big splash and the pin to win the match for his team.
Survivors: Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson, & "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith
Following the match, we once again returned to Todd Pettingill and "President Clinton," this time joined by Sunny. Nothing to see here. Except Sunny. Back when she was still hot.
â–º Bret "Hitman" Hart defeated WWF Champion Diesel with a small package in a no disqualification match to win the WWF Championship.
This match marked the end of Diesel's year-long championship run, and was the first time (but certainly not the last time) the Spanish announce table was destroyed in a pay-per-view main event.
CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE: Jean Pierre Lafitte was originally scheduled to compete as a member of the Bodydonnas, but was replaced on the team by The 1-2-3 Kid. The 1-2-3 Kid had recently turned heel and joined the "Million Dollar Corporation," and the WWF explained the substitution by stating that "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase had bought The 1-2-3 Kid a spot on the team. In reality, Jean Pierre Lafitte required time off to have a hernia operation....Avatar was originally scheduled to compete as a member of the Underdogs, but was replaced on the team by Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly.
NOTES: Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Mr. Perfect, making a surprise return to the WWF, did commentary for the event. Carlos Cabrera and Hugo Savinovich did Spanish commentary. Todd Pettingill handled interviews. Bill Dunn was the ring announcer....WWF Tag Team Champions The Smoking Gunns (Billy & Bart Gunn) defeated The Public Enemy (Rocco Rock & Johnny Grunge) in a non-televised match prior to the pay-per-view....Promotional materials for Survivor Series 1995 featured Shawn Michaels & Diesel....This was the first Survivor Series pay-per-view held on a Sunday night. Previous events were either held on Thanksgiving Day or Thanksgiving Eve.
Buck Woodward: Honestly, all I remember from this show was Undertaker's team (all wearing Undertaker shirts) pretty much standing on the apron cheering while Undertaker blew through everyone. ... I also remember thinking that the Wild Card match was pretty dumb, especially when Ramon turned on Douglas. It was like "What's the point?"
Mike Johnson: I was actually at this show, which was the final in a weekend where I attended four shows in three days....This was the historic show where Bret "ECW is like Pornography" Hart flew off the ring apron and crashed through a table. To Hart's credit, he actually got a good match out of Kevin Nash....I liked the whole Wild Card deal and remember that being a fun match....The match with the Japanese women, which was why I attended the show, was a huge letdown....The Public Enemy dark match was hysterical to me personally as the night before, while talking to Ted Petty (who was a great guy), he told me that they weren't going anywhere. 12 hours later, I was watching them walk to the ring for a WWF show. Too funny....I also recall running into Axl Rotten in the building, which I thought was weird because here was an ECW guy going to a WWF show. It just totally seemed out of place.

2006 - TNA broadcast their Genesis PPV, featuring the first-ever Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle Buck Woodward filed the following PPV report:
Pre-Show
Jeremy Borash welcomed us to the show, then they went outside the building, where Christy Hemme was asking fans who would win between Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. LAX showed up, and Hemme started a "USA" chant. LAX got in the face of some fans. Security showed up, and they cut back inside, where Mike Tenay & Don West revealed that LAX is still planning to try and burn an American flag. They then reviewed the matches for the PPV.
Eric Young came out, stood in the crowd, and said that tonight he would get to make his big announcement. He said he was going to let the fans in on a "big secret", but was interrupted by Robert Roode's music. Roode and Ms. Brooks came out for Roode's open challenge, with Roode saying it was open for "anyone in the building tonight". Roode asked Eric if he would accept the challenge. Roode said Young was scared, and if Eric doesn't wrestle him, he may get fired. Roode hit Young with the microphone and dragged him into the ring to start the match.
Robert Roode vs. Eric Young.
Roode pulled off Young's shirt (Young was in streetclothes) and choked him down in a corner. Young floated over a suplex attempt and rolled up Roode for a two count, then grabbed a crucifix for another two count. Roode stopped Young's momentum with a spinebuster. Young leapfrogged Roode and ducked a clothesline, but was caught with a sleeper. Young shoved it off and applied his own sleeper. Roode dropped Young with a back suplex attempt, which looked bad. Young came back with a Thesz press. Roode whipped Young into a corner, and Young awkwardly went to the apron and then to the ropes. Roode went to join him, but Young shoved him to the mat and hit a top rope elbow for a two count. Brooks got on the corner to distract Young, but Young avoided a charging Roode. Young hit a cross bodyblock, but Roode rolled it over and got the pin with his feet on the ropes for leverage at the five minute mark.
The fans told the referee that Roode had his feet on the ropes, so the referee restarted the match. Roode protested, then charged Young. Young caught him with a double boot to the face out of the corner, and rolled up Roode for the pin, also using the ropes for leverage. The announcers played up that the fans weren't clueing in the referee this time, so Young's pin stood.
Winner: Eric Young.
After the match, Roode complained to Ms. Brooks about the loss.
A video package hyping Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle was shown.
Backstage, Christy Hemme was awaiting the arrival of Samoa Joe, but LAX interrupted her. Homicide took the mic and interviewed Konnan, who said they would burn the American flag tonight. Konnan also noted that the next time James Storm takes his shirt off, he should wear a sports bra.
In the arena, Christian Cage came out and said it was a "load of crap" that he had to wrestle AJ Styles tonight, because he is the number one contender for the NWA World Title. Styles came out and attacked him, but security broke it up.

Kurt Angle was shown arriving, and they went into a music video to hype the PPV.
TNA GENESIS
Kazarian, Maverick Matt & Johnny Devine vs. Voodoo Kin Mafia
Kazarian, Matt & Devine came out with kendo sticks, Voodoo came out with chairs. This is a three-on-two handicap match. There was a "DX Sucks" chant at the start. Matt started out with BG James, backing him into his corner for a beat down. BG was soon cleaning house with right hands, but Matt took him down with a superkick. Devine came in and bit BG on the ear. Devine hit BG with a sloppy body block, then bit him again. Kazarian hit BG with a kendo stick from the floor, as the threesome kept BG on their side of the ring. Matt dropkicked BG in the face as he sat on the mat for a two count. BG came back with a forearm to Matt, and had the referee help him do a kip up so he could make the hot tag to Kip James. Kip cleaned house and gave Matt a Pedigree, then mocked the Sweet Chin Music stomp. James then tossed Matt and Kazarian out of the ring and gave Devine a cobra clutch slam for the clean pin at the four minute mark.
Winner: Voodoo Kin Mafia.
Post-match, BG James mentioned Vince McMahon, Michael Hickenbottom and Paul Levesque again, and said the next step in their "war" would be seen this Thursday night on Impact.

Stevens hit Lethal with a top rope elbow. Douglas then went to the top, but Lethal caught him with a shot to the gut and made the tag to Dutt. Dutt worked over Stevens with right hands, then hit a dropkick and a flying headscissors. Dutt dropkicked Stevens' legs out, and then worked over Douglas before giving Stevens a neckbreaker for a two count. Dutt hit Douglas with a springboard senton. Lethal gave Stevens a faceplant and Dutt followed with a moonsault for a near fall. Dutt went to the top rope, but Shane Douglas went after him. Dutt knocked him away, as Lethal pulled Douglas off the apron. Stevens grabbed Dutt for a powerbomb, and Douglas came off the top rope for a dropkick that missed badly. Stevens still dropped Dutt into the powerbomb for the pin at the eight minute mark, but the crowd was groaning at Douglas' whiffed kick.
Winners: The Naturals.
LAX did a promo, with Konnan pointing out that they are American citizens, and TNA is trying to infringe on their rights by not allowing them to burn the flag. Konnan said Jim Cornette would not stop them tonight.

2007 - USA Today featured an extensive look at the drug problem in the professional wrestling world with comments from Konnan, WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt, Congressman Henry Waxman, ECW champion CM Punk, and the National Wrestling Alliance's Bob Trobich.
Perhaps the most damning quote came from Waxman, who while discussing the WWE's Wellness Policy, commented, "Since we started our investigation (in September 2007), the WWE has suspended 11 wrestlers. It's a clear sign that the WWE's drug policy failed. Their wrestlers were caught by law-enforcement officials." That was technically correct, but the article did point out that the wrestlers were not suspended for drug test failures, but instead for using online pharmacies, which were prohibited even if the performer has a legitimate prescription from his physician.
Jerry McDevitt, while commenting on the rash of early deaths, said, ""I don't think it's ever been unsafe to be a member of WWE. The majority of deaths (in pro wrestling) were of people who came through the organization and moved on. I don't think any organization has the ability to control the choices that people make when they aren't affiliated for years."
ECW champion Punk admitted that the business can be rough to work in, but said, "There will always be people with the attitude, 'It won't happen to me,'but that happens in all walks of life. Some guys don't realize the consequences."
Gary Wadler, an adviser to the World Anti-Doping Agency took the WWE Wellness Policy to task in the article, although Jerry McDevitt responds by stating Wadler, "knows nothing about our program. He has never talked to anybody who has any knowledge of the program. He's paid by WADA, which competes with Aegis." [Aegis Science handles the WWE Wellness Policy drug testing.]

Alberto tells us his name, but we already know that. After 24 years, Survivor Series is going to be great. It is going to be great because the superstar of the show will be Alberto Del Rio. Since Alberto is so busy popping off about what he has, it isn’t even a drop in the bucket for all of the things that the legends did.
Alberto says that the only reason why Porter has those legends in the highest regard is because he will never be one of them. Alberto says that he is already a legend. Porter says that since Del Rio is a legend, he won’t mind getting Survivor Series started with a legendary beat down.
Alberto tells MVP that maybe it sounds like a great idea to him and to the WWE Universe. The brother tandem were perhaps best known in the United States for a long run in the Central States area, where they feuded with The Midnight Rockers, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty as well as Sheik Abullah The Great.
In Puerto Rico, the duo were a huge part of the World Wrestling Council in the late 1980s and early 1990s, holding the WWC Tag Team championships as well as the WWC Caribbean Tag Team championships and big babyface act for the promotion while feuding with Hurricane Castillo Jr. and Miguelito Perez Jr.
By the early 1990s, with the territories pretty much done, The Battens appeared in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and did some independent work, but eventually retired in 2005 following a retirement "tour."
Batten, who hosted some local wrestling shows and did special appearances from time to time, was living in Cleveland, Ohio at the time of his passing.
2014 - TNA broadcast their last original programming on SpikeTV. Stu Carapola filed the following TV report:
Welcome to the "Farewell to Spike" Impact Wrestling Report here on PWInsider.com!
We open with a video package looking at the recent history between Bobby Roode and Bobby Lashley, then we go to the arena as Roode comes out to the ring to open the show. He says that everyone in the world has real, true friends that you can rely on and trust, and Eric Young is his true friend. Last week, Bobby Lashley tried to end his career. Austin Aries tried to get in Lashley's way, so Lashley tried ending his career as well. He knows Lashley wants a title shot and he'll get it, but tonight, he wants to fight with no refs or rules, just him kicking Lashley's ass, and he demands that Lashley come out right now. Lashley comes out and it's on! They brawl through the crowd and Lashley tries taking Roode's head off with a chair, but Roode ducks out of the way. Security runs out to break them up before things can get more interesting.
Ethan Carter III is backstage with Tyrus and says that it's a shame Eric Young got hurt, but he'll give Spud the opportunity to face him in the ring tonight and see if he's a real man.
We see a video package of Jessica Havok destroying everybody, and she'll defend the Knockouts Title against Taryn Terrell and Gail Kim in a three way after this commercial break!
Knockouts Title Match: Havok vs Gail Kim vs Taryn Terrell
Both girls try to jump Havok as soon as the bell rings, but Havok just shrugs them both off, whips them both into a corner, and crushes them both with an avalanche. Havok lays Terrell out and Gail tries one of those lucha wheelbarrow rolls, but Havok lifts her up and drops her on top of Terrell. Havok with a big spinebuster on Terrell, then Gail catches her in the Royal Octopus hold. Havok goes down to the mat and Terrell adds in a Muta lock, but Havok won't quit so they both let go. Gail gets pissed at Terrell for getting in her way, then they both boot Havok out to the floor. Terrell tries a crossbody off the apron and Havok catches her, but then Gail comes off the apron with a forearm that wipes both girls out as we go to commercial.
We're back and Gail Kim is going at it in the ring with Terrell while Havok recovers on the floor. Gail catches a small package for 2, but charges into the corner and gets caught with an elbow. Terrell fires back with some clotheslines and a rolling neckbreaker before getting dragged out to the floor and dropped face first on the barricade by Havok. Terrell really looks like she got dinged good on that one. Havok tries to do the same to Gail, Gail fights out, but Havok crushes Gail with a spinebuster on the floor. Havok dumps them both back into the ring and doesn't look anything but confident as she drags Gail and Terrell next to each other and goes to the second rope. She comes off with a splash and covers them both, but they both kick out at 2. Terrell avoids a charge into the corner, then Gail avoids one, then Terrell holds Havok on the top rope so Gail can come off the top with a kneedrop to the back of Havok's head that knocks her to the floor. Terrell quicks capitalizes with a baseball slide to Gail, but Gail comes back with a clothesline of her own and then hits the charging crossbody in the corner. Gail goes to the top and Terrell tries for a superplex, Havok comes in and powerbombs Terrell, causing her to superplex Gail in one of those Tower of Doom spots. Havok misses an attempt at a second splash out of the corner, tries to chokeslam both girls instead, but the other girls fight out and finally manage to chop her down to the mat. She takes Havok out with a top rope crossbody, Havok kicks out at 2, Terrell gets a bodypress of her own for 2, Gail hits EatDaFeet on Havok and then Terrell hits an Ace Crusher and makes a cover, but Gail pulls her off Havok at 2. Gail and Terrell go back and forth with pinfall attempt and Terrell winds up rolling Gail into a sunset flip for the win.
Winner and NEW Knockouts Champion: Taryn Terrell
Excellent match! Great, great stuff and a wonderful finish. Havok looked impressive as hell dominating what effectively turned into a handicap match until the very end, and then a great moment for Terrell finally achieving her goal and winning the Knockouts Title. Plus, rematches aplenty since Havok didn't get pinned.
Kenny King catches MVP coming into the building and asks why he hasn't returned his texts and calls. MVP says he needed time to think, and there are a lot of things he's not okay with around here, but he is okay with reminding everyone what MVP means. King says that's what he's talking about, and they walk off.
We look back at a bunch of stuff that happened earlier tonight, then we go backstage to Bobby Roode as he says he's seen Lashley attacking all his friends, and now he's going to be the champion challenging Lashley. The rematch is set, and he's not going to stop until he gets his hands on Lashley.
Kenny King vs Sgt. Chris Melendez
King takes Melendez down and wrestles circles around him a couple of times, but Melendez comes back with a couple of hiptosses and King powders out to the floor. Melendez reaches out after him and King rakes his eyes and snaps his neck down on the ropes. Now King is back in the ring putting the boots to Melendez and locks him in a camel clutch. King releases and fires crossfaces at him, but King takes a run at Melendez and Melendez big boots him with the prosthetic leg and then hits a Perfectplex for 2. Nice bridge for a guy with one leg. Melendez with a running Yakuza kick in the corner (again, the prosthetic leg) and then picks him up in a fireman's carry, but MVP runs in and nails Melendez with a chair.
Winner: Chris Melendez by DQ
MVP continues smashing Melendez with the chair, including several shots to Melendez' good leg. Ken Anderson finally runs in and chases MVP off as Melendez writhes in pain on the mat. Officials check on him as we go to commercial.
Spud is backstage and says that Mr. Carter wants him in the ring tonight, and just like always, Mr. Carter will get exactly what he wants.
The medics are still checking on Melendez backstage when we come back from commercial, and Kurt Angle comes in to find out what happened. Anderson is irate and wants his hands on MVP, and Angle says MVP has gone too far and he'll deal with him.
Ethan Carter III comes out to the ring with Tyrus and says that Spud has impressed him and made quite a few friends along the way, but now he'll give Spud the opportunity to fight him tonight. He knows Spud wants to, and asks over and over if Spud wants to fight him. Spud comes out and EC3 says he knows he's apprehensive with Tyrus there, so he tells Tyrus to get out of the ring and not get involved no matter what happens. Tyrus leaves and Spud comes in and EC3 says he knows he ruined Spud's life and it entertains him. He knows Spud wants to hit him, so he tells him he'll even give him the first shot. Spud says he's not going to hit him in the face, EC3 smiles, but Spud says 'I'M GOING TO KICK YOU IN THE BALLS!" So he does indeed punt for the hills and attacks EC3, and EC3 just beats the ever loving crap out of Spud. EC3 tries to leave, but Spud grabs EC3's leg and literally climbs back up to keep fighting. EC3 is done with this, so he tosses Spud to Tyrus, who pops him up and clotheslines him out of midair. Tyrus holds Spud up and EC3 says he's not going to be done until Spud decides to end his miserable career, and he's going to start by cutting off that mop on his head. He takes a razor and shaves off part of Spud's hair and then he and Tyrus leave Spud laying in the middle of the ring.
Kurt Angle comes up to Kenny King backstage and tells him that he's gone too far out there, and he wants to know where MVP is. MVP comes out of nowhere and knocks Angle out, then stands over him and unloads with a flurry of right hands while King asks him what the hell he's doing. MVP says this is what happens when Angle wants to play games, and he storms off as King reluctantly trails after him.
We see a video package of Bram f'ing a bunch of people up in hardcore matches, then we go to...well I'll be damned, a hardcore match with Bram!
Hardcore Match: Bram vs Tommy Dreamer
Bram attacks Dreamer on his way to the ring, but Dreamer fights back and rams Bram into the post and then comes off the apron with a clothesline. Dreamer dumps the trash can full of weapons out into the ring, then drags the can after him as he chases Bram up the ramp. Bram nails Dreamer and slams him on the ramp, then lays Dreamer out with his own trash can. Dreamer reverses a whip and sends Bram into the ringpost, then a bloody Dreamer suplexes Bram on the floor as we go to commercial.
We're back and Bram is screaming at Dreamer as he bleeds on the ring steps. Bram wipes Dreamer's blood on his own chest and sends Dreamer back inside so he can smash a trash can over his head and cover for 2. Dreamer gets ahold of the Singapore cane and nails Bram with it, then uses it to hit a White Russian legsweep for 2. Dreamer sets up a chair and then atomic crotches Bram on top of it before finally coming off the second rope to clothesline Bram off the chair. Dreamer covers for 2, then hangs Bram in the Tree of Woe and baseball slides a trash can into Bram's face. Bram lays Dreamer out and tries to come off the second rope with a chair, but Dreamer gets the boot up, smashing the chair into Bram's face, and hits the DDT for 2. Dreamer brings a barbed wire chair into the ring and tries to piledrive Bram on it, but Magnus runs in and lays Dreamer out and flattens him with a uranage. Bram picks Dreamer up so Magnus can nail him with a hard right hand, then Bram gets the barbed wire chair and prepares to nail Dreamer with it. Suddenly, Al Snow runs out and fights Magnus off, brawling all the way to the back with him, and Dreamer mounts a comeback. He gouges Bram's face with a cheese grater, wedges the barbed wire chair in the corner, and tries to ram Bram into it. Bram stops that, punches Dreamer in the ding ding, then rams his face into the barbed wire chair. Bram hits a leaping DDT and covers Dreamer for the win.
Winner: Bram
At this point, Bram is one of the best booked guys in the business just because he's made out to be a tough guy who wins all his fights straight up without needing interference. In fact, his interference was fought off in this match and he won clean anyway. Great brawl too, another awesome brawl this week.
Kurt Angle is backstage and says that he told everyone on day one that if anyone put their hands on him, there would be consequences. MVP crossed the line, and he's going to go out there and settle this for good.
We look back at last week when James Storm finally cashed in his long-forgotten Feast or Fired briefcase so he and Abyss could win the tag title from the Wolves, then we go to earlier today when Super Indian Wrestler Guy asks Manik why Storm doesn't like him. He wants to know what he needs and what he should do, and Manik says that what he needs...is for him to awaken. Okay.
It's...MAIN EVENT TIME!
X Division Title Match: Low Ki vs Tigre Uno vs Manik vs DJ Z
This is to fill the vacancy created last week when Samoa Joe surrendered the X Division Title due to injury. Okay, DJ Z and Low Ki go at it in the ring while Manik and Tigre Uno fight out on the floor. Ki drills Z with a mule kick and covers for 2, but then Manik comes in and blindsides Ki, who cartwheels past Manik and then both are taken out with a double missile dropkick by DJ Z. That hood on Manik's outfit has to be annoying, I used to wear a hooded sweatshirt sometimes when I was wrestling in high school and I stopped because people kept getting their hands caught in it, it's got to be hazardous with the style he works. Anyway, Manik and Tigre Uno go at it in the ring and Manik tries a surfboard until Ki takes both out with a top rope double stomp. That looked really nasty. Manik dumps Ki to the floor and tries a dive, Ki kicks him coming through the ropes, he winds up brawling with DJ Z, then Tigre Uno takes all three of them out with an Asai moonsault. Okay, now we go into spotspotspotspotspot until Ki hits a top rope Ki Krusher on Tigre Uno for the win.
Winner and NEW X Division Champion: Low Ki
Not much to say, it was what you expect out of the X Division, but nice to see Low Ki get the win since this will probably set up rematches with Joe when everyone comes back from vacation. This, incidentally, is the final TNA match to air on SpikeTV.
We go backstage with MVP and Kenny King. MVP is desperately trying to get Bobby Lashley on the phone, but he keeps getting sent right to voicemail, so he storms off again and King follows obediently.
Kurt Angle is backstage, and he's...WALKING! He's got something for MVP after this commercial break!
Kurt Angle is in the ring and says that MVP abused his power to get himself closer to the World Title, and MVP doesn't like the way he does things around here and jumped him from behind. But Angle is in charge here and he called the Board of Directors to discuss MVP's punishment, but before Angle can continue, MVP comes out to the ring and he doesn't look like he's in the mood to screw around. MVP reminds us that Angle is an Olympic gold medalist and multi-time World Champion, but now he's reduced to calling his mommy to protect him from MVP. MVP says he beat Angle's ass because he's MVP, he's sickd of this company, he's sick of these sissy suckers who call themselves the Board of Directors and took his position from him and gave it to Angle because they can't handle his progressive mindset, and he's sick of Angle's snitching ass. So if Angle feels like the best he's got is calling the Board of Directors to rat on him, MVP will give him his phone. Angle says he didn't call them to get MVP fired (can he do that since he's half owner or whatever? Continuity, people.), and this will probably get him in trouble, but New Year's is coming up and he wants to start the new year off right. He attacks MVP and starts beating the crap out of him, but Kenny King runs in and jumps Angle from behind, giving MVP an opening to take Angle out to the floor and fight him out there. Ken Anderson runs in and attacks King, but Bobby Lashley comes out of nowhere and spears Anderson into next week before high fiving King. Bobby Roode runs out, drags King out of the ring, and rams him into the barricade, then he stares down Lashley, takes his shirt off, and runs into the ring to brawl with Lashley. The show ends as they exchange right hands, and we see a promo package for the Best of TNA episodes that will begin airing in two weeks.
And so ends the final first-run episode of Impact Wrestling on SpikeTV. What I'm about to say is stuff I might normally save for Stu & Pid, but I really feel like this is something that needs to be heard by the general public. I've been covering this show for just about five years (I can't believe it's actually been that long), and in that time, I've seen them run a lot, and I mean a LOT of really bad stuff. Say what you will about the wrong people having the power to influence decisions in ways that hurt TNA, but this company had a lot of really hard working guys who had been there since day one, passed up their opportunities to go to WWE, and wound up having all their hard work amount to nothing because of the people in charge. Now most of those guys have been thanked for their years of contributions by effectively getting dumped back onto the independents because TNA wound up in such bad shape that they couldn't even afford to keep their own homegrown stars that stuck with them through the years-long rotating door of "leaders" who left the company in as bad or worse shape than they found it in. In spite of all that, TNA has been having great, and I mean GREAT shows for the last five months, and if they had been doing this all along, they might just have wound up with a strong enough product that could have gotten them the deal they were looking for from SpikeTV. But they didn't, and now the TV deal that's kept them alive for the past nine years is gone and they have to settle for the much less impressive TV deal with Destination America that they announced earlier today. I can't say I'm surprised at all, but certainly frustrated and bummed out, though I can't imagine my feelings come close to touching those of the guys who spent the last decade trying to swim upstream against the bad business decisions, only to eventually discover that it was all for nothing. I'm sure there's many lessons to be learned here, but I think the best one is that if you're the kind of person who is considering compromising on pay to dedicate your career to building something new, take a long and hard look at who's steering the ship and ask yourself if this is someone you really think can build the something new you want to be a part of.
Thanks for reading the final ever edition of the Impact Wrestling Report of the SpikeTV era. I'll be back tomorrow or Friday to discuss Impact and more with Dave Scherer on the Stu & Pid Show!
2022 - Beloved photographer Bob Mulrenin passes away. Mike Johnson penned the following:
I am extremely saddened to pass on the news that Bob Mulrenin, who for many years has been a fixture shooting photos around the world for Ringside Collectibles’ WrestlingFigs.com, passed away earlier this evening Brooklyn, NY after battling cancer since this past April.
Bob had been working and shooting photos for Ringside Collectibles for years and even before that, was a well known face all over the country as he regularly shot at WWE, AEW, Impact Wrestling, independent events and conventions.
Bob had been shooting regularly since the days of WWF tapings in Allentown, PA in the late 1970s, so he witnessed and shot lots of historic moments. In recent years, he was a big part of Paul Heyman's Heyman Hustle website as well. He always had great stories and insights into the talents and events he shot.
To say Bob was beloved in pro wrestling circles, especially among the women who work in the business, would be an extreme understatement. He had been a trusted friend to many in the business and a photographer, was regularly requested to do women’s photo shoots for the Impact Wrestling locker room. He was also an extremely trusted, close friend of The Road Warriors during their career, among many, many other talents, past and present. Bob was also a great friend to me personally and this site.
After Wrestlemania this past April in Texas, Bob learned he was ill. He immediately went into treatment but still refused to let it curtail his travel and photography schedule, continuing to cover WWE, AEW and Impact Wrestling events around his chemotherapy. He was adamant that no matter what, he was going to live his life on his terms, and he did, especially when his travel took him back to his beloved Las Vegas.
In recent months, he made trips to Vegas, Atlanta, Charlotte and lots of other cities for wrestling and beyond. He refused to let cancer stop him and even had a trip to Japan booked for next month. He fought to the end and did what he wanted with the time he had left. I respect the hell out of that and there's a great lesson to be learned from his attitude and strength.
Bob took a fall in his home last weekend and was hospitalized shortly after in Brooklyn, NY. He had been moved to hospice earlier today. To say his loss has a great many people mourning tonight would be a massive understatement.
On behalf of everyone here at the site, I send all of our deepest condolences to his entire family and to all his friends.
