Jackie is in the back with Bron Breakker. She asks what is next.
Bron says he finally put Sheamus behind him and his focus is on The Royal Rumble. He says if you look at the numbers, half of them are senior citizens and they don't have the ability to throw him over the top rope. Bron says he is in the Royal Rumble match.
Bron turns to see Penta.
Penta looks at the title belt and he does the Cero Miedo finger gesture.
Match Number Four: Sami Zayn versus Drew McIntyre
They lock up and Drew pushes Sami into the corner. They lock up again and Drew sends Sami to the mat. Sami with punches to Drew. Drew puts Sami in the corner but misses a punch. Sami with a chop. Drew with a chop but Sami with a kick. Sami sends Drew over the top rope to the floor. Sami with an Arabian Press onto Drew. They return to the ring and Drew with a chop. Drew misses a chop and Sami with punches and he goes to the turnbuckles fo more punches. Sami with a chop but Drew with an Irish whip. Sami tries to float over and Drew with a flying boot for a near fall. Drew with a kick to Sami. Drew with a chop and he poses.
Drew with another chop. Sami with an elbow and he goes to the turnbuckles for a boot. Sami with a double sledge off the turnbuckles and then he connects with an elbow off the turnbuckles. Sami with a punch and a tornado DDT for a near fall. Sami with a wrist lock and he goes tot he ropes but Drew drops Sami on the top rope and Sami falls to the floor. Drew goes for a Claymore but Sami moves and Drew lands on the announce table. Sami sends Drew into the announce table. Drew kicks Sami and Drew sends Sami into the time keeper's area while the referee tries to get them back into the ring. Sami finds a way to beat the count.
Drew with a boot to the head followed by a punch and chop. Drew with another chop. Drew with more chops and he has the referee ask Sami if he wants to continue. Drew with punches and chops. Sami with punches. Sami leap frogs over Drew and then he sends Drew to the mat. Sami runs into a spinebuster for a near fall. Drew with a power bomb for a near fall. Drew gets Sami on his shoulders and he climbs to the turnbuckles for a Super Air Raid Crash. Sami counters into a sunset flip power bomb for a near fall. Sami with a waist lock and Drew blocks a Blue Thunder Bomb. Sami goes for an exploder into the turnbuckles but Drew blocks it. Drew with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Sami with a kick and a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.
Sami goes up top and Drew stops him. Drew with a chop and he goes to the turnbuckles. Sami drops Drew onto the turnbuckles and Sami with a head butt and punch to put Drew in the tree of woe. Drew pulls himself up and sends Sami to the mat with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Drew counts down for the Claymore but Sami counters and gets a near fall with a rollup. Drew goes shoulder first into the ring post. Sami with an exploder into the corner. Sami sets for a Helluva Kick but Drew moves and Drew with a rollup and his feet on the ropes for the three count.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
After the match, Drew attacks Sami and he punches Sami. Drew rakes the eyes.
Cody Rhodes' music plays and he comes to the ring and punches Drew. Cody with a Cody Cutter to Drew.
Kevin Owens with a forearm to Cody. Cody with punches and he kicks Kevin in the corner Drew hits Cody from behind. Drew holds Cody and Sami with a Helluva Kick that misses Drew and hits Cody.
Drew guffaws at what Sami did.
Kevin stands next to Sami and he pats him on the shoulder and leaves the ring.
Sami leaves the ring and he says it's not like that. Sami tells Cody he is sorry.
Cody says he has a great view. Hanging above, that championship. He spent his whole life trying to get his hands on it. It is not about the belt. It is not the belt that makes you champion. It is the mindset. No one has had more matches than him. He arrives first and leave last. He says he is looking forward to the Royal Rumble where he can get past Kevin Owens and . . .
CM Punk's music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring.
Punk says something to Cody before he gets his mic.
Punk asks Cody if he is okay. He says it looks like it is starting to get to him. Punk says he knows what that belt means, not the one that Kevin Owens has. He says he was champion for 434 days and around 300 days, it started to weigh on him and burn him out. It turned him into someone he did not like. He started to lose friends. He says Cody is losing friends. He says that Cody wants to be Bruno or John Cena and do it for everyone. He says that Cody is not Superman.
Cody says he does not have a lot of friends and he asks Punk if he is his friend.
Punk says he is Cody's friend. He says that is why he is out here to talk to him. He isn't here to rain on his parade Punk says he will always be Cody's friend. Partly because of a promise he made to Cody's father, but because he loves him. Punk says Cody is on a road that he has traveled Punk says he couldn't prepare him for this. He says Dusty couldn't prepare him for this. When you are the champion you have no friends. It becomes a heavy wears the crown.
Cody reminds Punk about his prediction from last year. He asks Punk what is next for him.
Punk tells Cody, in the short term, you are in your home town. You get to sleep in your own bed and that is rare, especially when you are in your position. You probably won't get much sleep because you are going to prepare for media to talk about the biggest match of your career. You might get to spend time with your wife and daughter. You will still be thinking about that match. If you make it past Kevin Owens, one of the toughest SOBs, and a former friend. Then there is the next show. You are the poster boy. This is what you asked for. No matter how early the mornings are and how late the nights are, you made that sacrifice
You spend empty nights in full buildings because that belt means so much. Someone will be chasing you and getting in the best shape of their life. You will face that person at Wrestlemania. Someone is going to take the belt from you. That is the good news.
Cody asks what is the bad news.
Punk says the bad news is that man is him. Punk says he will win the Royal Rumble and see you at Wrestlemania. Because I am your one true friend, I will stab you in the front.
Cody says he appreciates that.
Cody says when he arrived at OVW, they were the only ones who wanted to learn arm drags. Everyone wanted to be like you. You got called up and then Cody got called up and he was chasing you. You stepped away for ten years and people were chanting your name. We were chasing you. Cody says this relationship has changed. Cody says he is not chasing Punk You are chasing him.
Cody tells his friend that he hopes Punk wins the Royal Rumble because he wants Punk to catch up.
Punk stops Cody from leaving and he says he wasn't finished. Punk says a lot of people have said they want him to catch them, but there is a graveyard of people who wanted that.
Cody stops Punk and he says he wasn't done. Cody says he wants Punk to catch up because he wants to see the look on Punk's face when he realizes the Best in the World isn't the best in the world any more.
