Jade Cargill vs. Naomi.
The build to this has been the best of the weekend in my opinion.
Naomi is out first. She has been so good as a heel. She is fired up.
They had Jim Cantore outside the stadium do a weather report gimmick where he told us a storm is coming. They cut back inside and there is Jade. She is storming to the ring. She is ready to go.
The bell rang and Jade went right after Naomi, which is exactly what she should have done.
Naomi drew Jade to the floor but got dusted into the barricade for her trouble. But Naomi went to the eyes and then took control. Jade came back and I can tell she has been putting in a lot of work in the gym because it shows in her work. She has every tool needed. She did a spot playing possum that led to her catching Naomi off the ropes. The growth is there.
Naomi hit a sweet bulldog from the top and a split-legged moonsault but Jade kicked out at two. Naomi nailed her with two stiff kicks to the mush and then rolled Jade up for two. Naomi got a submission but Jade powered out. She did a powerbomb off of her shoulders that was SWEET. She picked her right up and did Jaded to score the win.
Great stuff from both. Jade has grown so much. I really enjoyed that.
Lily Singh and Lil Yachty are in the crowd.
Then they showed us an Xfinity ad on The Sphere. The irony? We don't have Xfinity here in Las Vegas.
LA Knight defends The US Title against Jacob Fatu.
Jacon is out first with a wolf mask that made him even scarier than usual. Solo Sikoa walked out with him and hugged him, then went to the back. Jacob is a scary man.
Knight came out in a white Maserati that dropped him off at the rampway. Big pops for Knight. And we're off. Fatu was a bit overaggressive early but then he blocked a BFT and hit a Samoan Drop. The Wolf is in control now. They are selling that Knight shouldn't have wrestled twice last night. They also told us about the pretty much true story of Jacob Fatu. Knight kept trying to come back. It would seem that Fatu winning is inevitable. Would they flip three Titles in three matches?
Knight is doing what he can to use Fatu's aggression against him and he is coming back. He got a two with an elbow off the top. But, Fatu came back, as he always does. Jacob went to hop the turnbuckles but LA pushed him. Knight followed with a wheelbarrow from the top for a two.
Jacob came back with hip attacks in the corner. He went to the top and hit a Swanton for a two. The crowd is split, doing chant offs for both guys. Jacob went to the top and came off, into a BFT! Jacob grabbed the rope to break the count. That was cool and these two are doing some really amazing stuff for guys their size.
Jacob hit a senton I can't even describe. Two moonsaults later, we have a new US Champion. Haku came out and congratulated him.
Great match by both guys. They showed us as Wade said, A Plus Athleticism. Guys their size should not be able to move as they do. I loved it. And now we get to see where Jacon goes from here.
The crowd popped big time for the win. They liked both guys and Jacob was his usual amazing self.
As an aside, overall the booking wasn't great coming in to this show but the talent has given everything that they have all night. The work has been great.
Rey Fenix vs. El Grande Americano.
It's a shame that Rey got hurt last night. I wonder how Dragon Lee feels about getting passed over for Rey.
El came out to a mariachi band where all of them were wearing his mask.
They announced that TKO bought AAA.
Vikingo is in the crowd (Tony Khan must be losing it). He got in El's face and paid for it. The match was basically Fenix doing Lucha and El doing Chad Gable stuff, and a crazy senton splash.
I am so glad that Wade Barrett is on the show. Him getting Cole aggravated is gold. Cole calling him an idiot made me laugh out loud.
When Rey was down, El put in the metal plate. He's a thought, if a guy puts it on his forehead and he hits someone else in the face, shouldn't it hurt both?
Anyway, Rey kicked El in the head and it hurt his leg. I like that. El hit a headbutt. He went up to the top and did the flying headbutt. El got the win.
It was exactly what it should have been. With Rey Mysterio out, El absolutely had to win.
After the match, Vikingo (glad they dropped the rest of the verbiage) went into the ring and helped Rey up.
