The decision to puit Fenix in was so late that Rey Mysterio was listed internally on the production sheets for the show.
Pretty funny Fenix beat his brother Penta to a Wrestlemania debut.
They had a masked band playing before Grande made his debut. That was awesome.
Big pyro for Fenix.
Hijo del Vikingo in the crowd. He kicked Grande in the face.
Fenix and Grande/Chad Gable had some nice chemistry early on. This was a lot of fun early on. Fenix looked jazzed to be there. Poor Mysterio with the timing here. Fenix hit a moonsault into a senton.
Grande put a foreign object in his mask. Fenix hit a leaping kick to the face while Grande was on the apron.
Back in the ring, Grande grabbed an anklelock. Fenix escaped and came off the ropes but hit the foreign object. Grande hit a flying headbutt off the ropes and scored the pin.
Fenix lost the Wrestlemania debut he didn't know he was having 48 hours ago. He got a big ovation live as he left the ring.
To get the Grande character over, this was the right move. The timing of having Fenix debut and lose so soon sucks, but it was a necessary evil unless they wanted to kill the Grande character out of the gate,.
Solid match.
They showed members of the Pena family at ringside as they talked up the AAA acquisition.
Shawn Michaels announced 61,467 fans for a "sold out" Wrestlemania.
Dana White was booed in his own city when shown at ringside.
Stephen Amell in the house. He WWE, acquire Heels while you are at it.
Next up is Tiffany Stratton vs. Charlotte Flair.
It should be fun to see how the crowd reacts to these two given the last few weeks.
Tiff is out first with a Barbie Doll style entrance, coming out of the packaging. It was a creative idea.
For some reason, the challenger came out second. She was driven out and had a great looking robe.
Tiffany is the babyface to the live crowd.
It's going to be interesting to see whether there are any snug shots given the last few weeks.
They battled to the floor where Tiff was sent into the barricade. Flair was in control and the crowd was giving her a ton of heat. Flair missed a big boot so Tiff kicked her.
Stratton hit handspring elbow and a spinebuster.
Stratton looked really strong in what is her biggest match ever, since it's at this stage. This should be about elevating her to the next level, but we will see.
They battled back and forth with some stiffer shots after Flair disrespected the champ. Stratton went for a cartwheel but was caught and hit with a powerbomb for a close two count.
Flair drilled her with a clothesline. She worked over the champ for some time. Flair went off the top but Stratton rolled through and almost scored the pin in a revisit of the Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat from Chi-Town Heat '89. Flair pulled her leg to the ring post and slammed it, obviously setting up for the Figure Eight. She locked it in and THAT woke Vegas up. Tiffany FOUGHT her way out of it. Tiffy came back with her moonsault but Flair pulled the knees up and almost scored the pin. Good near fall!
They battled to the top. Tiff was sent into the ring and hit with what was supposed to be Natural Selection but it looked weird. Still, Tiffany's kickout got a massive POP.
They battled back and forth. Time stood still for a second. Flair missed a leaping spear and hit the buckles. Stratton planted her and hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever.
1-2-3, clean finish.
This was far and away the right call in my opinion. Flair needed to help elevate her, especially after the way segments had gone during the build.
We get a visit to pay tribute to the 2025 Hall of Fame class. Lex Luger did not appear.
